the bulkiness of the tape is what turns people away from them... I had a few decent digital data recorders, some tapes still around here. but lost the equipment in flooding..
haha.. I really never minded that, say with the auto rewind/auto play its a good time to get up off the couch for a minute while you wait..
That's what it is. People hate getting off the couch even for a minute. They have an excuse not to get up if there is media playing instead of a blue screen. However, good analog VHS tapes have a pretty good video quality. It's right up there with dvds. But you can beat someone to death with a videotape and then pop it in the vcr and it will play great. But dvds are fragile, and dont really make good weapons unless you sharpen the edges.
God, I remember betamax. They were decent, but I hated the fact that the tape had to be playing in order to fast-forward or rewind. At least, that's how mine was. You couldn't stop the playback and rewind/fast-forward it so that it would rewind/fast-forward quicker, like with VHS. That shit was annoying, imo.
