Thank you for the english lesson. Now it is my turn. The use of three periods is meant to express an incomplete thought. Also, they are to have spaces between them to be properly formal. eg. ". . ."

 

Not to stick up for him ... but I use the periods .... alot. No space... not necessarily counted in groups of three ....... cough*... I like it.

 

I do as well, but while we were on gramatical lessons, I figured I would return the favor and educate him on formal writing. I have nothing against misuse of punctuation.
