It really aggravates me when people talk about faith as if it's something the feeble minded made up to make things more comfortable to them. As far as my own definitions, religion is man's actions to earn his way into heaven. Religion and faith are not the same thing. I have Christian faith, but there is also religious Christianity. Sorry, this isn't a thread about the legitimatizes of any faith or religion anyway - it's about Israel's politics (understandably religion comes into that). I think Israel, as any other country, has every right to defend themselves. If they can do that with invasion or prevention, so be it. I don't agree with the system the UN poses as (the World's Government), nor do I think it's anyone elses business as long as they are not violating rules of war and what-not.
xexon, you insist you're not an anti-Semite, and then you go and put up that picture in your signature. We tried to discuss the issue intelligently with you and instead you choose hate. This is the last time I'll address you because there's just no point.
As you wish, but once again I tell you, there is no hate. If I can't get people to think about the current political situation with Israel, we are lost. x
................................................................................................ Persian people are friends to The West. The best argument for peace is that any war on The Khomieniest Junta would harm our friends amongst the populace. Is Iran under radical rule? , hey there are people who feel that The US is under radical rule. It may be a point of view thing. Iran is a de-jour religous theocracy and a de-facto kleptocracy. Ahmedinajad, may not launch any srike as you said, the worry is that he might lay these bad toys on to Hammas or Hezbollah and let them do the dirty work.
Ehh, comparing the radical theocratic government in Iran under Sharia Law to America with a dumbass in office isn't the best line of comparison lol No, Iran's really bad, I don't know about the people so much actually so they might be fine - actually I do know a lot of them are fine, because Iran's rich off us and most of the world buying oil off them - but I'm just talking about their government.
(I just read back through more stuff) Ahmedinajad might be a crazy man in charge of an otherwise stable and not radical country, but he's still at the wheel - and he is a crazy man. Otherwise I'm sure the Iranian people are totally well off and all, but as long as Israel is under the threat of their leader, I think they have the right to do whatever they think is right.
Ahmedinajad has something in common with George Bush. They are both talking heads for other people who really control the country. In the case of Iran, its Ali Khamenei, NOT Ahmedinajad. In the case of the US, I've already made my point there. x
What CRAP!!! Israel is a country which likes nothing better than to go to war! I was almost killed 2 years ago when I was on holiday in Lebannon and Israel decided to invade the country! It has been at war with nearly all the countries in the region and it is the cause of most of the middle East's problems. I have nothing against Jews but it pisses me off when people associate Judaism with Israel - Israel is a country, not a religious entity. People can critisize Israel without being a racist or an antisemite. In anycase, The majority of people there were muslim, before the creation of Israel, Most Israelis are immigrants or 1st or 2nd generation: Muslims have been predominant there for over a centuary, but now they are being forced from there homes and land to make way for more Jewish settlers and are being put in slums and ghettos. This is the modern day Apartheid, like there was in South Africa, except its accepted by every country which has the power to stop it. Why would you support a country who's soldiers murder Palestinian Children in Gaza and cut off all supplies to the Gaza strip? This country routinely bombs it's neigbours such as Syria and Iran, is it anywonder they dont recognise it? In Europe, Israel has tried to edge its way in, It's football team competes in european tournaments (and was recently ridiculed in my home city), The compete in the Eurovision Song Contest (as crap as it is it is for European countries) Israel is in ASIA and tries to become European as it has no allies in the Middle East. Israel is an agressive, neuclear power and today is one of the biggest threats to peace in the tri-continental region. I would support Israel if it allowed a Palestinian State be formed, but that Will never happen, BOYCOTT ISRAELI PRODUCE AND ISRAEL
I agree with this In Europe we are constantly bombarded with American media and TV shows. It is quite unknown here that there are similar numbers of jews and muslims in the US, Jews are overrepresented in the american mass media, raising the profile of the religion and it's history. When people talk about the 'Holocaust' they forget all the East-European Gypsies, Slavic people, Arabs and Black people who were killed alongside the jews for this very reason. This is not an anti-sematic statement, it is the honest truth.
I can agree with this. I'm a product of the American public school system Although I try to self educate my self as much as possible. For the longest time the only things I heard about WW2 was Hitler and Jews. It was not until just a couple of years ago I learned about the gays and Gypsies, and more recently about the rest - and that wasn't from class! We did a Diary of Anne Frank the play, and it was then working on the crew that I learned more. Not in the class room, but from what those of us who care and look on our own, do any of us know about the rest of the story - or the many others from around the world.
History belongs to those who got to the publisher first. The exchange of ideas on the internet is going to challenge many perspectives we've long held true. Politics. Religion. Law. It's ALL fair game. This is a good thing. People can think for themselves, and not have to rely on the "official" sources we had to endure in the past. This too, is a good thing. x
I love the Jews, and Judaism. All of the so-called "reasons" ever presented for disliking the Jews sound, to me, like symptoms of mental illness for anyone who believes them. It is delusional, to put it mildly, or just plain stupid, to put it bluntly, to believe you have a better understanding of Judaism than those who study Torah, and observe, practice and live the Mitzvot. And yet, there are those who will pass along any ridiculous absurdity on the basis that it must be true if it proves one's prejudices. Israel may be secular, with a government of laws that overlap, but are not identical with, Halachah or Torah Law. But it IS the Jewish state. It is one thing to criticise Israel's policies and practices, it may even be helpful to do so if it is in the interest of creating better conditions for all concerned. But to suggest Israel's self interests are inherently sinister solely on the basis that it is Israel, and therefore you just really really want it to be true, it a path to madness. Your pet conspiracy theory is as personally, spiritually, intellectually crippling as any fetish, or mental illness. Here's to your healthy mind. Peace and Love
Christians were also killed in the Nazi death camps. So were gays and Communists. Nevertheless, out of some seven million killed in the death camps, six million were Jews. Arguing that the Jews were not specially targeted in the Holocaust is considered to be a mild form of Holocaust denial. Hitler intended to go after Christianity after winning the War. That is when Christians would have been fed to the gas chambers, which would have been more voracious than Roman lions.
I couldn't key on my computer today; they say. I was mechanically hand cuffed. That Iranian leader really wants to threaten us. Booo, hoo, hoo. Aaah, a chance for eternal terrorism: Shalom. Personally, I thought it was joke to understand responsibility in a new Light. But I stand with You. Kris
