Yeah, its a fine line, though, between something you like a lot and something you need. If you start using weed to make yourself feel better on a regular basis (like, as a cure for bad moods, or worse, depression), if you feel you aren't quite right till you toke, if you never take breaks (or can't take breaks), if you spend more waking hours stoned than sober, then you have issues. Too much of a good thing is dependance, and thats not a healthy way to live. Psychological addiction is just as real as physical addiction, and just as bad for you (your mental health). Balance and moderation is the way to go. I hear people say "well I'm taking a break from weed, and now have nothing to do..." and think, well, it's a damn good thing you're taking a break, because weed has far too strong a presence in your life if that's how you fill all your time. Pandiebeer, this isn't directed at you, I'm just making general statements, so don't take offence or think I'm attacking you.
Lately i've been smoking at 420 and 911 a little habbit i made myself... corny? maybe.. but it's my way of comforting those poor fuckers that died on that day.. Smoke a J @ 911... it'll make you appreciate it more.
this is NOT withdrawl. it may be a part of it, but it would have to accompany other symptoms to be considered withdrawl. these include nausea, difficulty sleeping, loss of appetite, etc. like he said, you could really want to go swimming but there's nowhere to go, you may really want to watch tv or play videogames but the electric goes out, you may really want to play a basketball game but nobody else wants to. i could go on and on. all of these things are likely to cause slight irritability, as does having no marijuana when you would like to smoke. that does not however mean you are addicted to these activities or that you are going through withdrawl. or maybe you are addicted, but what does that matter? so i do agree that it's annoying when people can't admit they are addicted, but do not agree that you are addicted if you smoke everyday. and again, back to the original topic, i love to wake and bake too. the first high of the day is always the best and i find that if i get it early in the day it puts me in a good mood for the rest of it. it's about 9am right now and i just walked around campus and smoked a bowl. it's a beautiful, winter morning and i'm enjoying my buzz. that will soon end when i go to my 9:30 class and remain in class until 12:30. but i will no doubt get high once again after class is done... i must be addicted.
There is quite a difference between dependency and addiction. People can become overly dependent on pot, just as people can become overly dependent on coffee, soda, junk food, porn, sex, whacking off, etc. Just about anything can be abused to the point of being detrimental to the "normal" life.
Ok, lets put it this way....... No one on the is addicted to weed. No one on the will ever be addicted to weed. I smoke 56 times a day, but im dependant not addicted. This is basicaly what you guys are saying.
Shit, there's nothing wrong with a good wake n bake especially if you have a companion to share the moment. Morning cuddling wilst high is great. The whole dependance vs addiction so far is right on. Addiction is a physical hell. Dependance can be a mental one.
