How would I 'prefer' you are 'so blindly devoted' and what exactly are you trying to draw out in a comparison here:
- If you know what you believe and why you believe it, then you are somehow 'blindly devoted'
or
- You are somehow a better 'free thinker' if you just dont really know whats what or who is who, or why. Just devoted to what you kinda, sorta are not sure of.

Just think about what you think you are getting at?

Neither of these statements was made.

The point is that many Fundamentalists *don't* know why they believe and practice the way they do. Their reasoning says, "Because the Bible says so," without reflecting on the bigger picture.

I'm very certain about what I believe in, but in being devoted to principles over particulars, I can't say that I whole-heartedly agree with the Fundamentalist stance. Even though you're correct - It *should* be about the fundamentals - It just isn't. It's an ongoing battle against pages upon pages of doctrine that confuses the real issue.

I spend lots of time thinking about this sort of thing. *shrugs* You don't have to agree with me, but this is a public forum, so I just posted my thoughts on the subject. Please forgive the intrusion.
