^ The 2 funny stories about that scene are that the kid wasn't really playing he had somebody standing behind him playing the banjo through his arms. He was also scared of the actor playing the guitar. That is the reason for the look away at the end of the scene. But it still a classic. Probably one of the scariest movies ever made.

Shit, you're the first person I've ever heard say that. Any time I say that people react like, "it wasn't that scary" because they're use to blood and guts movies like Saw. Deliverance was psychologically terrifying. That's funny the kid was scared of the actor. I'd think it would be the other way around.

 

The other thing that makes it scary is the infamous "Squeal like a piggy" scene. I have read many experts say that it is more traumatic and difficult psychologiclly for men to deal with being raped than for women. Before anyone jumps on me for saying that I'd just like to say it is difficult for anyone to deal with it. Speaking from experience going through the whole beating yourself up for allowing it to happen thing. You start questioning your man hood etc. With the whole torture/killing thing like in Saw the trauma is over when youu draw your last breath. Rape can shake your whole world forever. It's kind of funny I actually like the Saw movies not so much for the gore and violence but for the fact that they are almost like fables and have these morality subtexts.
