I was going to leave well enough alone but this claim is absurd. How many examples to contrary would you like? I can fill any order.

Campbell, be forewarned: even though we profoundly disagree in many ways, I respect you, and I'm going to file this away for future reference...

I'm going to just put this out there; I have nothing but utmost respect for someone standing up for their beliefs, no matter what they are. What really irks me is when they lay claim to supposed facts without any logic or proof. It may seem like I bash on other religions, but I'm really trying to destroy one's closed-mindedness. Being a Muslim I'm the underdog, everyone believes false information and doesn't even want to try and accept that the media is putting out false information. Islam is a very peaceful religion, I just wish others would step outside of mainstream politics and give it a chance. Living in America is terrifying in this day and age; Bush is locking up Muslims in G'tmo and denying citizens their rights all because of their religion. It's happened in the past as well; Japanese internment camps in WWII, McCarthyism during the Cold War, Americans don't want to compare the present to the past, but it's the same. Never would I ask you to share the same beliefs as me, only for your tolerance.

Then how should muslims treat other non-believers according to the Koran? Not a trick question... just want to hear it from a Muslim's view.

Debates on religion and god should really include a lot more "I think," "I believe," and "according to the bible" than there ever are. Campbell's form of intolerance is assuming his own view to be absolute truth, and contradictory views to be evil or guided by satan or somesuch silliness. I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate followers of some other religion calling your beliefs and feelings evil.

If you want to objectively discuss religion and god, you have to accept that you do not know, you believe.

The Koran teaches tolerance, especially to Christians and Jews, for they are 'people of the book.' Islam believes in Jesus and Moses, it just believes that Christianity and Judaism have just been corrupted. It still acknowledges that Jesus and Moses were prophets spreading the word of God. In all honesty, if people took the time look they might discover Islam is not so foreign as they assume.

I'll treat you like I treat any other person. If you decide to be ignorant, I will treat you as such, but note it is due to attitude, not beliefs.

Before you give us your examples, can you tell us who is a Christian?
Fill that order first, then I would be glad to see your examples.

FreakerSoup you are right on. And if I thought my faith in Christ was less than the absolute truth, I would not be a Christian.

Nope cause there are no Buddhist fundamentalist fanatics who feel the need to constantly impose their faith one others-

UNDER ATTACH, CHRISTIANS FEAR MILITANT BUDDHISM

Recently a 50-strong mob led by four Buddhist monks confronted Christians gathering for a service at an Assembly of God church, RI said. They accused the pastor of bribing villagers to convert to Christianity and they warned him to close down the church "or face the consequences."

In an earlier incident, Buddhist extremists attempted to forcibly convert Pastor "A", a woman. RI reported that they also tried to rape her.

"We looked out and we saw a lot of men who had come and surrounded us,"
she told RI. "They were local Buddhist monks who threatened us and told us to stop our (Christian) activities."

But the threats quickly moved beyond words.

"They forced us to kneel down: ordered us to declare the Buddha is our God and kept beating us. But we refused to say anything. We sat on the ground and kept silent."

Militant Buddhists are continuing their campaign against Christianity, attacking churches and threatening Christian schools, RI said.

"But we have seen that with persecution there is also growth. There are people coming to know Christ. There are Buddhist monks who actually persecuted the church coming to say they are sorry, that they were misled. They realise that even though they have done evil, the Christians have repaid them with good."

There certainly will be more of this in the days ahead.
China (especially) is quickly becoming the most 'Christian nation' on the planet and because they are not prepared to 'take it for granted' like so many Western Christians they are mobilised, know what they believe and why and are willing to share the Gospel accordingly.
In alot of way I really believe they are going to be the real shining light and good example of whats right about Christianity.

Anyways, not surprisingly they are going to be meeting some pretty strong opposition the further along they go.
I think it will be fair to say more from Muslims than Buddhists though.

What you neglected to mention is that Sri Lanka has been involved in a religious war for decades with the Hindu Tamils, and thus there are militant buddhists there protecting their religion from those who would convert them. No doubt they also see Xtians, who prostelitize far more than Hindus or Buddhists ever do, as a threat.

I certainly don't agree with any intolerance on the part of those Buddhists but I do understand where they are coming from.

Also Sri Lanka's form of Buddhism is a unique off-shoot, and not followed anywhere else (as far as I know).

Why is it Xtians can't understand how insulting and offensive their prostelitizing is to non-believers?

I can't count the number of times I've had to slam the door in the face of Xtians who came to my doorstep uninvited and unwanted. Perhaps I should just get a weapon and be a bit more forceful next time one tresspasses on my property... Ya think they would get the message with a load of buckshot in their asses?
