Well no. I was joking with the OP. Learning is for learnings sake. As much as I love travel, I have other priorities as well
He seems smart enough. I struggled with math a bit, so I had to buckle down and study, which was something, in high school, I never had to do anyway. Keep in mind, I am a high school dropout too. And I get paid alright. But I am going back to school now because I've found something I'm passionate about.
Yeah, just because someone struggles doesn't mean that they can't do it. I've made complete idiots understand math. I am 100% certain that anyone who puts some effort into it can understand math, unless they have some kind of learnin disability or so.
I sell my body and/or brain. Usually the buyer is some sort of company that uses my body and/or brain to get some things done that a machine can't do (or can't do as good). In other words: I take any job that seems at least a bit interesting and that pays quite well. Ranging from being a gardener to being a computer controller at a warehouse to being a chauffeur to teaching English as a Foreign Language. Anything really.
Agreed, struggled through Algebra but passed, then i got up around Calculus and I literally had no clue what was going on during the entire class. Went to college and never had to take any math at all beyond statistics
Some things are more natural for us then others. I've never had to study for any sort of history or government class ever.. Anything I write in English classes will get an A. So if I have to look over some math for an hour a week outside class, it didn't mean math was beyond me, just that I needed to spend more time with it.
Sure, I'm not denying that some things are more natural. But I am saying that putting some effort into it, just like you did, can lead to great results.
Learning anything interesting right now Pavel? I'm reading a book about motorcycle maintenance, since I got the scoot.
i was terrible at english (reading and comprehending what i read). i just never put much work into it up until 10th grade or so. math and related subjects were my bread and butter. but i finally decided that i needed to become a better reader. so i started reading more, i asked more questions, i stayed after school for help. i put a ton of work into bettering that part of myself and what do ya know...it worked. it worked to the point where my scores on tests were about even for reading and math. nowadays, i have trouble with precalc - the more advanced stuff that is. so i'm working my ass off trying to understand it, so i can move on. yes, it sucks having to retake the damn class many times - but i can't blame anyone else for that - i quit on myself. don't make that mistake of quitting on yourself. anyone can learn anything if they put their mind to it. if Frederick Douglass could teach himself to read and write, then i'm sure you can get through math if you put your mind to it.
Me? I'm in finals in school now. Actually thinking about getting a scooter, since everyone seems to have one and the gas mileage is awesome. (Plus, no need for a license). I sure did learn a whole lot about old ass British literature this semester though. Reading a whole lot about organic gardening lately since I plan to have a vegetable garden over the summer. I think I might pick up the violin too. That's exactly what I'm talking about.
You need a license for mine. Anything over 50cc. Mines 150. I'm also tinkering around with this really powerful professional video editing tool. It's called Cinelerra. It's as good as avid, without the $1000 price tag. Means I'm also having to play on linux again. I've been thinking about taking up guitar. I don't have a lot of time now, but when I do, I'm going for it. Learning rocks. We should start a free school thing here Pavel. Between us we have a lot of god damned knowledge.
I guess you can drive yours on the highway then, that's pretty cool. I'd be afraid to drive a scooter on the interstate, some people here drive like idiots, and getting hit while driving a scooter would suck. I've been fucking around with this Mac editing tool... something studio or such. I acted in a movie for a friend and we've been fucking around with the editing software. The university has an awesome Mac lab... most powerful computers I've ever worked on. Still like PC better than Mac though. The guitar is awesome. I haven't touched mine in a couple of days, but I've just been busy and not in the mood. I might jam out a bit today, but I'll probably just go to the city to drink. 2.50$ pint night at the Saucer. 300 domestic and international beers on tap. Hundreds of others in the bottle. It's awesome. Starting a free school thingy here would be cool, but I don't know if I have the time to dedicate to it.
Yeah, I could take it on the highway. Never going to take it on the interstate though. People here drive like idiots too. I see drunks on the roa at 4pm tuesdays. You have a flying saucer there too? Awesome. It's one of my favorite places to go out. Yeah, I know I won't have the time soon. But it sounds like fun anyway.
Yeah, we could do it one day. Flying Saucer rocks. You can smoke inside too, which you can't do in practically anywhere here anymore.
