I worked in the Corporate world here in the USA for 32 years and took advantage of them to my delight everyday.
I got paid well and screwed them as much as I could in any way I could legally.
They paid for all my expenses and I was pretty much high for most of it.
Now I'm retired and have my own company that imports Drums directly from African Crafts people so the money goes to who made them.
The war is total bullshit and so are the leaders of this country.
This entire country was built on greed and raping the environment and the people who lived here for 1000's of years. They took care of the land and it was a garden.
Now it's a waste land. My grandmother was Lakota Sioux---you know the people who lived here before all the whites came and raped them and the land.
So no I am far from a flag waver and when I was your age I was in anti war demonstrations and burned my draft card.
I was also at The Chicago Democratic Conventio and was hauled off to jail.
I still have a bump on my head from some ass hole cop who beat the shit out of me and others that day.
If you are so into the war and the USA. Why don't you enlist like all the other gullible dudes your age who spend their days playing video games playing Army?
Keep sucking up all the great ads on TV urging you all to go find adventure in the military.
I am sure there will be tons of room for you all.

If a war for something that I actually believed in was going on then I wouldnt have that much of a problem with it. If I was being drafted to fight in some bullshit war like the the War in Iraq then the the U.S. could kiss my ass, its off to Canada for me.

American boys and girls, 18-25, not in college and without dependents. To start off with.

Should the crap hit the fan, able bodied men and women between 18 and 40.

 

Starts at 18....years ago if you were in College they would not take you. So of course it was the poor who were not in school who went first.
They even had a deal if you were busted for pot ..it was go to jail or Viet Nam.
Then they came up with a lottery system where they picked out birthdays.
Now who knows what they will do if they start it again.
There is talk about Women being called up too.
I wouldn't put anything past Bush now.
If you look at Iraq and see how many troops are there and then think of who the USA is fighting. I would not be surprised if they wait till we have a huge amount of troops and just nuke them all. It would be a sure way to slim down our entire fighting force.
That's what I would do.
Think about it. Yes-it's very scary.

The short answer is - you can live outside the law without necessarily being a criminal.

There are people in this country who were born here and have the right to live here, but simply go about their business without benefit of documents, etc.

Someone I know here had his wallet ripped off and has been living the past two years competely "off the grid" - scraping together the money to buy new replacement documents like his social security card, etc. There are gubmint fees associated with replacing same.

Crook? No. Outlaw? Technically.

 

I dont think i would pass the physical to get in. Don't they test the urine of all the draftees?

This is how it works in peacetime.

First one that tries it in wartime is shot as a deserter to send a message to the others.
