i might also want to have been born in like, the 1920's.

    or maybe even 1900.

    but probably 1950-1951.

why have things gotten so freakin' conservative in the last twenty years?

Generally the backlash from the 60's and 70's that lead to the Reagan democrats, ect. But now we're swinging back, it's a constantly cycle. Like the 20's and 30's were a pretty liberal time for their era followed by the more conservative 40's and 50's, that lead to the explosive 60's and 70's.

Though I dont' know about being born in the 1920's. Being a kid during the depression then having to go fight WW2, on one hand it's a lifetime of experience, on the other hand, it's the depression and WW2

i would be more than willing to fight in a war if it actually meant something.

i'm interested in fighting for the big picture, not my country.

i woulda volunteered for WWII... but not the current war

dude, in 50 years history books will make this war seem every bit as important/patriotic/whatever as the world wars

i'm just saying that maybe if we were around back then, we wouldn't really be all for the war. maybe we'd think about it, like we do the current war

Most Americans actually didn't want to get involved in "Europe's war" until Japan attacked us, Germany then declared war on us 3 days later, and well we were pissed, especially since Americans had still been dying at sea the entire time.

yup and we didn't wanna get in this war until the twin towers were attacked
that's what the history books will say
i'm not saying that we shouldn't have been in WWII
or that it wasn't a noble cause
i'm just saying that facts probably got distorted and we only really know the STORY. not what really happened. we get what "they" want us to know

Most people still support the war in Afghanistan though, and that's a war that should've been fought. Iraq though, even at the initial invasion public support was just above 50%

I'd want to be born in 1965 so I would have been the right age to follow the Grateful Dead around in the 80s..... Wait I was born in 65... cool.

I'm glad I was born in 1990 because for two words...

    Umphrey's McFuckinGee baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Which is actually three but it's close.

The only thing I regret about being born in 1990, is the fact that I was only like 3 years old or something when Zappa died. Not cool.:(

Tough to say... lots of historical points interesting enough to warrant targeting for a real life experience. To have been born in the era in order to experience the event would mean that my persona would have been sculpted during a different time... an entirely different generation and culture would have helped hard wire my sense of aesthetics, artistic and musical tastes, political leanings, areas of knowledge, ignorance, etc...

I was glad I was born right were I was and no later for being able to comprehend 9/11 when it happened, and remembering a pre 9/11 America. I was in 8th grade at the time and everyone had a pretty good grasp of what was going on and the day consited of arguments on who did it and calling for blood. But I remember the 6th graders in school were like "meh, plane flew into a building, so?"
