if i could own a car, any car, without the stress of being in debt or having to eat cat food in order to do so,
i would not be living in a city, where in a culture that didn't hate logic, they wouldn't be needed nor belong.

i understand the hobbiest machinist thing, making mechanical things,
but i don't understand showing off something you didn't make yourself,
just because you could afford to buy it.

i understand road trips on back roads out in the country,
but no way in hell does it make sense that anyone in a city,
should HAVE to have one, or wanting to drive in a city either one.

Chrysler has the hybrid Pacifica that can run 30 miles on a single charge, then the V6 kicks in.14 hours to recharge at 120 volts, a few hours at 240.
    $34,000 base price.

They clearly do not interest you but sports electric cars are needed if electric cars are going to work. And just like now most people will never buy them. But for car people it's proof speed is not going away and those people have a place in the market. There is not going to be an "ecpoclypse" in your lifetime. We are no where close to being out of gas. Mad Max is not going to be a thing.

I knew a kid in high school who had one of these. Now it's just sitting in front of his mom's house. I don't think it's ran in years.

mad max isn't what it is. famane and desease by a process that the use of combustion to propel transportation is very much a part of. you're right about the part that we're not going to run out of fossil fuels fast enough to save us, and as for my lifetime, well at almost 70 there might not be a lot left of it, but seas are rising and tropical diseases are are mutating and their vectors migrating into formerly more temperate climates. a process which is only going to continue increasing. its more of a maybe that any of the further consiquences of this won't happen then that it will.

and your right of course about flash selling concept too. i'm not disputing that, just not really interested in it myself.

Even though they're less than 100hp they're still pretty cool joy ride cars.

I think It'd be awesome if Volkswagen did a retro modern reintroduction of the Ghia today.

A buddy of mine owned one of these. It was the nicest car I've ever gotten to ride in and drive a short distance in.
