I see youtube videos like that all the time because I'm subscribed to many popular youtube atheists. They tend to carry on an assumption till they end and there will always be a thousand comments about how stupid the Bible is and anyone who believes in it. When addressing the errors, there is no communication just hurled insults (not that I mind but doesn't seem productive) but of course there are many exceptions where there is honest communication between people. I mean if you want to criticize the Bible then at least know the basics. Relying so much on youtube is a mistake imo.
I concur.. this subject might even deserve its own thread. I´m an atheist, and I find this utterly pathetic. (though I must admit that I was guilty of the exact same thing only a year or two ago...) These videos consistently base their entire argument off of a few assumptions. Assumptions that usually are either false, or can be argued against by any intelligent Christian. The fact that the arguments are presented in a video format also makes it extremely difficult to make a counter argument, and almost never can good discussions be had even though the idea behind the video may be an interesting one. Really, the goal of most of those videos is that the atheists that watch them can sit back and say, (or post) ¨HA! TAKE THAT! YOU STUPID FUCKING SHEEP!¨ ...I do admit, it feels pretty good to feel smarter than everyone (even if you aren't) and anti religion rants can be pretty damn fun. I try to do as little as possible of it now though.. I've become more fond of having conversations. When those videos are involved, decent conversations are next to impossible.
anti religion rants are no more effective than religion rants.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dD_NdnYrDzY"]YouTube - Creepy Robot Mouth Video‏ and a youtube for effect.. hahah
I love the WBC..... Such fun people. Especially if you watch interviews with them. They can't wipe that shit eating smirk off their faces, especially some particular ones..... I know what they look like, I just don't know their names, or care to. You can tell they just LOVE being looked at though. The entire existence of their church is that of an attention whore, and by the nature of their "message", that's what it should be, and if you say anything about it you're just going to hell. I'd really like them to protest something near me, I'd like to try to work into their crowd with a rainbow sign saying something fun, but totally within the context of the bible and their own message.
I know and you're right. I only wanted to say that because although you and the topicstarter may be focussing solely on those kind of christians, others seem to forget the original point and focus on the religion. I don't really care if it's going offtopic but it looks like it's going in the same direction as always: Ah, a critical thread about narrowminded christians, let's speak out my cliché thoughts of how this religion is all lies and fearmongering. It's like a little bunch of kids: the atheists/agnostics acting exactly the same and generalizing as the christians.
Yes, have you. No they aren't. Jesus was not born in December but around the first of October. Please tell me you aren't accepting the video Zeitgeist as truth without even checking to see if anything it says is true or not. Here you go, from the website http://www.unexplained-mysteries.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=98970 are various websites you can check out. Here is a great look at the ridiculous claims of most of the authors on that list (how they get away with this stuff is beyond rational thought) http://www.tektonics.org/copycat/copycathub.html This is another that site handles the major deities and does so with tremendous references. http://www.thedevineevidence.com/jesus_similarities.html I like the next site because no stone is left unturned in his search for more and more "Christ myths deities" to debunk, he has about 80 claims looked in to here: http://kingdavid8.com/Copycat/Home.html Because this movie spent so much time claiming the similarities of hours and Jesus here is a specific debunking to show how clearly uninformed in mythology and how easily duped the makers of this film are in making this claim. http://www.tektonics.org/copycat/osy.html Now for Leedoms "Virishna" I wish there was more information to go on, but there is no such deity, at least in our earth's currently verifiable history. he apparently didn't bother with fact checking. Here is one account of the hunt for Virishna from an earlier source: http://kingdavid8.com/Copycat/JesusVirishna.html
Don't get me wrong, it can happen to youtube channels that claim they're Christian. Usually they will screen what goes into the comment section, but sometimes it's for good reasons because Christian videos tend get a lot of hateful responses. I'm just speaking from experience. Sometimes an atheist or a 'christian' may false DMCA another person's video. I've personally gotten people sending me PM's saying how stupid I was and linked me to zeitgeist videos. It get's pretty ugly on there. Many think that since they're online and there is anonymity that they can act any way they want without consequence. There is the shockofgod channel, although I like some of the things he says, I don't like everything he says and how he goes about making the videos.
I'm not subbed to him but I do know his channel and watch his videos. I don't always agree with him, obviously, lol.
I concur but from the other side. Conversation and discussion is very enjoyable but you can't converse with a video. Like the one Relaxxx is touting proves the Bible is a lie. Now he wants us to prove it's false. First how does one go about discussing this with the video? As far as I know there is no script available and so I would have to spend hours playing and replaying the video to form a script so I can show how incorrect it is line by line. Meanwhile I'm not conversing with real live people just listening repeatedly this, for want of a better word, garbage. I mean the guy keeps talking about the "apple" Adam and Eve ate and nowhere does the Bible say it was an apple and if he can't even get something that simple right, what are the chances that much of anything else he says is correct? I mean if we were having a conversation, I could just say the Bible doesn't say that and he could say thanks and the conversation could go on but since it's video, there is no correcting him and he just looks like a fool. I'm sure that there are "Christian" videos that do the same thing and although I may find them interesting and maybe even share them with others, that is why I don't use them as proof of anything. And that is also why in conversations with others, although I maybe forceful in stating what I believe, I also say and recommend that no one should take my word for it but should check it out for themselves. (Acts 17:11)
People think Nerds are Weak too.. lol.. Meanwhile .. > link to revenge of the Nerds.. /removed... But this is fun.. Psalm 52.. http://www.biblegateway.com/audio/mclean/niv/Psa.52
