Please try to remember folks, if you judge a religion/philosophy/political ideology solely based on the behavior of it's practitioners and adherents, you will always be disappointed and nothing is able to withstand such judgment.

There are moronic assholes in EVERY religion/philosophy/political ideology and using them as a barometer of an ideas validity or truth is bound to fail and is the lazy way out.

A religion must be judged by the MAJORITY of it's adherents, because that is what a religion is.

A religion without followers is nothing. The collective consciousness of the followers of a religion IS the will of the religion.

By that token, it would be unfair to judge christianity based on the actions of the westboro baptist church, but quite fair to judge it based on the (abhorrent) actions of the roman catholic church.

It doesn't mean that everyone who follows the religion is evil, it just means that as a whole, the religion is evil.

 

Archaic religion is still a religion. It just has no followers anymore.

The majority and it's doings is not the religion. Religion and it's followers ARE different things. There is an infinity of different ways to have faith even in the same religion, all the minorities you never hear of are part of the religion as well. Why must it be judged by the majority?
