I don't know... if the draft does get reinstated, I'd like to run before I get drafted... if I got drafted and all ways out of the country were blocked off, I'd probably stay and fight the corporations that drafted me.

I'm very confused as to why France and Canada are included, but no I wouldn't let anyone I love be apart of that nonsense, even if my brothers agreed, and undoubtedly my dad and his wife would encourage them, since they are in the military, I would do everything in my power to get them to leave with me.

i obviously wouldn't be drafted now because of my age, but if i was drafted i'm not sure. my parents have said if i ever got drafted they'd take me over to canada, although i'm not really sure i'd want to do that. i mean, i like living in the US even if the people aren't perfect... in particular the president at the moment. it's a tough one, but i'd problably end up going.
the reason we have troops in france is because after WWII we left a lot of troops around germany, but now we're pulling those back because bush is more concerned with the middle east.

If the gov't was ever stupid enough to put a gun in my hand and train me to kill, yeah, I'd let them. The fools.

as much as it pains me to say this, a draft may be what is needed to fire up a much needed social revalution. it breaks my heart to think of young men and women being forced into a killing machine. it seems, at least to me, that the young people i talk to in my area would rather not think about these issues, that in it's self is so very sad. i hope that this changes before more people kill and die for a gross, barbaric cause but it seems unlikley at this point. it truley is a time for change and we really do need to make the front lines right here at home. i just see so much apathy for the state of the u.s. and the world....but enough of my babble.....

As a veteran of the first Gulf War, as well as an old person, I don't have to worry about this. But all of you under the age of 33 DO need to worry about this because it's looking more and more like a draft is coming.

This is what happens when you fight an unjust war and no one wants to participate. Don't run. Stand and fight. If 1000 people refuse to report, they'll just pick them up and no one will care. If 1,000,000+ people refuse to report and are very vocal about it, someone will sit up and take notice.

Thank goodness I'm turning 30 in 6 months. Even though I'm healthy my blood pressure is a bit on the high side so I'd just slam 6 shots of espresso before going to the draft office. My dad managed to get a deferrment during Vietnam 'cause he was studying to be a minister. He told me that he knew a few guys that joined the Coast Guard to avoid getting drafted. If you join the Coast Guard you won't get drafted and more than likely you won't have to kill anyone. You'd be helping people lost at sea or on The Great Lakes and you might end up stopping terrorists from slipping into the country. Many of the coastal area of the US are quite scenic so that would be and added benefit.

If you were really desperate you could wear a Gay Pride shirt and a pink tutu to the draft office and tell the draft board how much you like the show "Will and Grace" and that you "just can't wait to meet those hot Army hunks" and make sure to ask if the army bases have communal showers.

I would of thought it would be easier to avoid the draft nowadays. Religious/ethical reasons or just saying your gay. Would they work?

If I lived in The States and was up for draft, first I would laugh at the fact that people are trying to force me to shoot people I don't know, then I would either stay and fight against it or move to another country.

I don't think any of those reasons work anymore.

I'd take a giant dump in the envelope and return it to the gov. Then I'd SKEDADDLE to Costa Rica where army's and war is a myth. Once there i'd pitch a hut on the beach, smoke a few J's and wet my windpipe, then hit it off with the local honeys.

Once the draft and all that shit was over in the US i'd say good bye to my honey's and our children (muah!) and head back to the states because Costa Rica has too many mosquitos and the honey's have too many STDs.

    American Honey's! (muah!)

i said i would go to wherever they send me... i choose to live in this country so yeah. if i didn't like what was going on that much i wouldn't just leave.. i'd try to do something about it, to change it, but i wouldn't dodge my responsibilities as a citizen, no matter how much i disagree with it. if i disagree that much, then i'll move (which i probably will move out of country with my future husband, since he can't stand the states)

i read a book a while back, i can't remember the exact name of it, but it was about a guy named Owen Meany. anyway.... during the vietnam war he cut off his best friend's trigger finger (well half of it) with a diamond cutter so that he wouldn't be drafted... thought that was interesting.
