Thanks for that. Only about ten percent of people have ever had their i.q. tested. They only do it to determine severe variations in normality... both to the low and the high (the standard deviation of 20 from 1oo)... but what's HILARIOUS is.. online you would think that 75% of people were not only suspected of being either genius or slow.... BUT that 100% of THOSE people were deemed ... JUST UNDER GENIUS. Wow.
I Haven't Taken A IQ Test Since I Was At School, I Don't Need To, I Know I'm Smart.... Cheers Glen. PS:- I'll Get In Before Sombody Else Does And Say Maybe I Should Edit That To "Smart Ass"....
when I was in 8th grade everyone in my grade was tested. My mom said they tested everyone when I was in 1st grade too. I vaguely remember the first grade testing because it was two days into school and on the 3rd day they moved a bunch of people to different classes.
All the geniuses in this thread can't even post a simple .gif image ffs... You took the biscuit taking a screenshot and then editing out your other open tabs (that everybody will presume is child porn now)...
Kicks ass, mon. Everyones a mad genius non adays but yo, mon, you like, 2 points from genius. Word. REALLLLY? See, I believe you but that's weird because we aren't too far apart in age. I trust what you say but around where I live we did the state testing and all those things but as far as I understood from 2.5 years college for psychology...as well as 2 years of drug and alcohol counseling as both a patient and someone training to be a counselor in a year... I.Q. testing is expensive and takes about three hours and involved all sorts of media. It's not a standard test..the real psychological one. Of course, maybe states are all different. But I believe it has to be done one on one with a counselor or specialist or some sort. Interesting.
The simple fact of the matter is there are geniuses and the gifted and the mentally retarded or whatever they are (p.c.) called nowdays... and the slow.. but most people fall between 80 and 120. You can kinda tell by talking to people who falls on what range of that spectrum but most of those people have not been tested because testing is usually not done without a reason. I can guarantee if you are speaking with someone who seems fairly intelligent and quick they probably fall within 95 and 117. Another important point.. i.q. isn't all that important. It's often what you do with it. Plus there are allegations that i.q. tests are biased to minorities and others. There validity is at questions. They are very culture-specific in their framing of the questions.
which just goes ta show how dumb those tests are.they were probably structured by people with very low I.Qs ha! ha!
Where would you say I fall? Super or Duper? I just read that people with a high IQ tend to absorb information better... It might be then what they do with that information... Clearly when some read: how to post images in web forums ....something gets lost on them...
You know...I went to a "gifted" school. I always scored 3 to 5 grade levels above where I was supposed to be on "testing". I think it's all relative. My mom was a teacher and I don't remember a time when I couldn't read or a time when I wasn't doing math at home every single night. But I know people who aren't great in those areas but who are great in other areas. So these tests are just a novelty to me. It's just fun. Nobody should take them very seriously.
You Really Like Laying The Boot Into People Lately, Cut The Member Some Slack, That Was Only Their 2nd Post Here And They Obviously Have About The Same Puuuuter Skills As I Have, Would It Have Been That Hard To Offer Some Kindly Advice Instead... Cheers Glen.
Hmmm... a multiple choice question. Do I have to chose one? Can I chose super and duper? (oh do me, do me!!) ---shush, I didn't ask. *miss humble again* To play...you are most likely between 97 and 115. I could kiss your ass and tell you at least 110... but .. you know, you're smart. You get things. Even if people don't always agree with you. You get it. Other ways I.Q. tests can be flawed..they don't really take into accounts the arts (although people who are musically talented and can read music and all are better mathematically- they may not be the best at formal math but can often formulate things in their heads on a whim)... but, yeah, it doesn't account all the areas on the spectrum of intelligence. They are a bit outdated. As for what people do with it... people apply themselves in diff ways.... some people toxify their bodies more then others. And even of those who dirty their brains... some take the steps to repair brain cells via supplements, proper nutrition, meditation and continuing to read and learn. I happen to fall into the spectrum of someone who, fairly intelligent, to what level.. I don't care... who toxified my body but continued to read daily and learn daily and take care of my body so I will my mind is still fit. But if I wouldn't have done the damage I did do...who knows. (though I learned from that all too. )--- intelligence is just so multi-faceted (funny though...funny, funny, FUNNY!!!--how many geniuses online though. No, I mean.. near geniuses.)
Yeah, I thought it was weird reading what you wrote too because my state isn't exactly known for being ahead on education or spending a lot of funding on education but i distinctly remember being tested in 8th grade because my teacher gave everyone their score a couple of months later. I don't think she was really allowed to share that information with anyone but parents but she did anyways for some reason. I remember that so well because my best friend and i had the exact same IQ score I also remember being pulled out of class for special testing like you mentioned in 3rd grade and shortly after that being placed into the gifted program in school I don't really think IQ means that much either. Its actually pretty irrelevant. I think it can determine a very specific and limited type of intelligence - i have a logical mind and I have always been book smart so that is reflected in my supposed IQ score but i'm so fucking dumb in ways that would be embarrassing to admit here. Whereas I'm surrounded by people who are so talented in different ways that I could never begin to grasp.
I hate to answer for some people. But I will anyway because I'm a know it all I'm sure odon was just making an example for the sake of the thread and meant nothing personal. So...to that poster.. you were likely used as an example of "typical"... though it may or may not apply.
Yeah, I believe you and all. Around here people get tested for I.Q. if there is suspicion of needing help on either side... like if someone may be a little slow and need the help or be too intelligent that the classes bore them... to determine advancing classes or special assistants or help. Do you have any idea why they tested everyone? Are you sure it was a standard i.q. test? Like, you were def told an i.q. number and all? What did they do with that info? Move people around? Or..?
It wasn't personal. Or meant maliciously. Just joking, really. (probably just to myself) It just made me laugh that some 'smart' people don't always 'get' what some not so smart people 'get' - it was mainly aimed at Nox' ... but the OP made me laugh too. He took the time to (I think): Save an image. Edit and image. Upload an image to Imgur And then post it here... And then deleted it moments later. When there was a much easier solution. A smarter solution. (I think Nox is smart not so sure about the OP) Would irony be the right word to use? Where does a high IQ get you? I'd say about 97 Ok, not really. I'm not sure. You have lots of opinions. Ditto.
Pssst... I think I'm probably about 97 actually. (side note and edit-in college I always had a 3.85 GPA ...with math fucking me up. BUT... I only got that by reviewing things-studying a lot... so, I have the ability to be very book smart but I'm not just... yeah, listen in class, get it and get an A. I have to do the work. And when I do, I do well and Then...extra work, extra well. I suspect most people are like that.) I get things but not so fast that I think I'm uber-intelligent. And btw, my "opinions"... I'm becoming less paranoid and more rational. Again.
