very misleading advice, inthydreams. someone wouldnt know that their mind is 'healthy' or 'sick' until they actually take these drugs. so theres no way of knowing whether you will have a 'beautiful and enlightening' trip

LSD has ruined the lives of some people. It has also greatly enhanced the lives of some. It is not very addictive compared to coke or opiates, but any psychoactive drug has the potential for addiction. The answer is neither black or white, and what shade of gray the answer is is largely dependent on who is dosing. It's neither a tremendous evil nor a lifesaving wonderdrug, although it can be pretty close to either in extreme circumstances and when used by extreme people.

BTW, I wouldn't use Leary as an example of someone who flourished after using LSD, if in fact you were going to. Hoffman and Ram Dass are pretty good examples, but Leary got pretty far out there and was pretty much a laughingstock for much of his later years.

I would also like to add two more quick points... first of all, don't worry about convincing them. It doesn't matter if we're talking about LSD, God, the existence of aliens, or who is going to win the SEC championship game this weekend, people are going to have their beliefs and at some point there is no changing that. I spent a lot of my life trying to get everyone to conform to my beliefs, and it just doesn't work. You may very well be right, but maybe those guys are right in some ways, too, and maybe they believe what they need to believe right now. Being right is almost never a black or white thing.

The last point is that there are a lot of great posts on this thread. I am so proud of this forum. I feel like there are quite a few posters who can be counted on to give excellent, well-reasoned, and balanced replies these days. Maybe I'm just idealizing the present, but I don't think that was the case at all when I first arrived on these boards. There were a lot more jackasses and most of the people had very biased pro or anti-LSD stances. So, bravo :)

I didn't ever even think of it even being psychologically addicting
I thought it usually isn't... you get tired and your mind starts acting funny if you use it too much... I think. thanks \o/

    no.
it's a specific discussion, where people discuss different issues. we were talking about straight edge. I'm just trying to tell them that not every single last drug is gonna kill you, and that its a shame people are straight edge people shun this and won't even consider a possibly great opportunity.

Yeah I checked that thread out, it was full of dumb ass kids, writing about how pot enslaved their brother, and how all drug users are addicts. People like that are a waste of time. Of course, literally ANYTHING can be addictive, because addiction is impossible to define. People can be addicted to gambling, taco bell, Jesus and shopping too, but its not a legitimate addiction. Too me, if its not a physical addiction, alcohol, opiates, pharmaceuticals or amphetamines, then its not anything. Yeah, ive been psychologically dependent on weed, but thats my fault (not weed's) and I stop when I start to feel too retarded. If I can do that, then anyone can quit pot, or cocaine, or caffeine or tobacco, or LSD, as silly as it is that Id have to say that. Straight edge is a fascist movement, thank god there arent any where I live, or me and my druggy friends would have words. Just cause we smoke weed ands drop acid, does not mean we cant smash heads. FUCK sXe. In fact i think we need a symbol for anti straight edge kids, like a circle on the back of the hand. Curved edge.

I figured they were just a bunch of pussies. But I've been talking to them for about 2 years, not people on here. who are clearly much different XD

I used to do a TON Of LSD. I was a dealer and I tripped...shit, all the time. I figure I've dropped around 200 tabs of acid. One day I quit - no particular reason, I just didn't feel like it anymore - and I haven't tripped again since. That was around ten years ago. I had a great time tripping; I highly recommend it to people. I'm happily married, I make good money and I am not under the impression that I'm an orange.
