RE: 1. I believe in womens rights (I am active with IWF). However, I also believe men have rights too and believe a great many feminists take it too far, which is why I won't associate with them. If you believe this, then what you really are is a person-ist. You believe in equal rights for all, black, white, male, female. Not "let's become professional victims". 2. While I belief that men and women share a lot of the same rights simply because we're both human beings and both members of the animal kingdom. the biological fact is that men and women are different, and therefore there are some things men can do that women can't, and vice versa. It is against nature to think otherwise. Well sure. Just cause you can't tote 275lb over your shoulders doesn't mean we should lower the standards so you can become a fireman. There are women who can. Google Becca Swanson, who is stronger than I have ever been. Likewise no amount of placard waving will ever allow me to carry and give birth to children (cue jokes about "could you imagine whiny, weak, useless, spineless men giving birth, ladies?") 3. For some feminists, freedom means that women should do what the feminists deem as "appropriate". For this reason, I am NOT a feminist because I think a woman should have the right to be a housewife or even a porn star if she wants to. And men should have the same right. You want to talk about pay inequality - speaking of porn stars - look at what the men are paid vs what the women are paid. There's a reason Ron Jeremy continues to risk his health month after month, though the women retire with bags full of cash after three to five years. When there's a battered men's shelter, and women respond to Loreena Bobbitt with the same horror they would a man attacking a woman's genitalia, I will take your bleating about "equality" seriously.
I think the reason that women porn stars make more is because most of the films revolve around them, although I am not sure. In my post, I said nothing about pay "inequality". I believe you are paid what you are worth, period. And I was horrified by what Lorena did. Ouch.
RE: I think the reason that women porn stars make more is because most of the films revolve around them, although I am not sure. In my post, I said nothing about pay "inequality". I believe you are paid what you are worth, period. You're correct (I have friends who worked in that business). The women call the shots, dictate who, what, why, when and where they will work. They don't like the guy he's out of there. He's not ready right when she wants, like *that* - GONE. She makes the thousands of bucks and can sell merchandise and the like, he's a prop, just as much as the gaffer tape that holds the cables to the wall. He's lucky to clear a couple of hundred. RE: And I was horrified by what Lorena did. Ouch. Most people thought that was funny. Roseanne did a bit where the sister said "Oh My God - there's a woman in the paper - shot her husband thirteen times." Roseanne said, to great laughs, "I admire her restraint." Imagine the public outcry to the inverse.
No idea who she is. Porn doesn't interest me in the slightest. I'm not interested in watching videos of people eating, either.
But violence against womyn, particularly by a partner was LEGAL until feminism. That is what gets me, womyn too young to remember the Bad Old Days, not wanting to be put in the same basket with hairy legged dykes.
In the UK we just say chairperson, or chair. So there are way around it, if people care and make the effort.

That is what gets me, womyn too young to remember the Bad Old Days, not wanting to be put in the same basket with hairy legged dykes. Whereas they have no problems with womyn bashing men around or hacking off their husbands' privates.
RE: i wouldn't want to go back to the way things were when i was a kid, that's for sure. where i grew up virtually every woman was a battered wife, and virtually every child was abused. everywhere you looked women and children were trapped in horrible circumstances. Wow, I had no idea that before women went round unshaven saying men were scum, that every woman and child was beaten and raped on a daily basis. Well. I am SO GLAD now that a bunch of man-hating shaven headed boot wearing folk have taken over.
how come it's okay to say, "chairman," and that's considered gender-neutral, but when it comes to the word "feminism" (which had the goal of equality and did a LOT for civil rights, not just gender) it's "oh, no, you're a person-ist, you mean equality, not feminism!"?
i don't know about the weed laws where you live, but here, buying weed is illegal... reguardless of how you pay. so, no, she can't legally spend it on weed, at least not where i live. i do understand your point though, she could spend it on vodka, whatever... i may be wrong, but i don't think title 9 says that you have to "find a girl equally as competitive" as every guy who wants to play a sport. to my understanding, title 9 simply said that if a girl wanted to play on a team that was only open to guys, the school had to either create a girls team, or allow her on the guys team. it was also about equal funding. but i seriously doubt it requires you find a girl "equally competitive," and i'm pretty sure that guys teams won't be cut for not having enough females interested.... if anything, they'd be cut for lack of funds, since the girls teams are now getting some of the money the guys used to get.
Unless a person makes it their mission to say one sex is better than the other etc, i really don't give a shit. If people want to think men are better than fine, if women feel insecure enough to make a deal out of "chairman" then fine. I am a chick but i could not care less what people i don't know think. I don't know them, so their opinion makes no difference. Live and let live.
that's hardly fair. my mother is a beautiful, caring and vibrant woman who finally had the means to escape my father through public service groups that came about only after the feminist movement forced attention to these issues. i'm glad she did, because i wasn't old enough to get the worst of the abuse, but it was bad enough. as for boy's sports being shut down because funding was directed to girl's sports...AW poor babies. sorry. totally unsympathetic.
