I do not despise anyone. You seem not to understand what I'm saying. I am saying that we have two problems we refuse to admit: 1) That there are problems for men just as there are problems for women, but yet we as a society refuse to accept them or work on them - the men who talk of them are whiners, complainers, oh you think you have it bad try childbirth *snort* etc. 2) In our tremendous zeal to achieve equality or redress past wrongs, we're going OVERBOARD and causing some serious hardships and injustices to people now. Just cause I can't relate to you and don't want to doesn't mean I hate you.
there's no one here refusing to admit any such thing, though. but we do have to constantly hear your opinion and snarky comments on how women only want men for money and how it's inconvenienced you to have to share facilities and resources that were traditionally 100% for the boys. it's irritating.
Most women see men as a meal ticket. Fact. If they wanna have kids and a lifestyle, especially with how expensive things are getting, they'd damn well better find a guy with some earning power. It's always been that way. I'm not complaining about that - I simply recognised it and got stuck in doing something demanding and rigorous. As for the facilities comment - there's a guy up in Vancouver suing an all women's gym. Apparently it's closer to his home than anywhere else and has better facilities. Apparently men are icky, their sweat smells and women don't wanna put up with men while they're working out, hence "Curves". Why is this not considered sexist? Apparently when he pressed the point he was threatened with physical violence. So why is a bunch of girls not wanting their kvetching around the treadmills interrupted not sexist and wrong, but my attitude is? Title IX had some great ideas in theory, but fundamentally women aren't as into sports. I took my son to my preschool today - all the parents there are these weirdo crunchy non-gender role types but by God the boys thundered off to the sand table immediately while the girls took to the puzzle trays right off the bat. You could have drawn a line down the room. We ain't equal - and killing off the wrestling teams and cutting back men's sports cause women aren't interested in them is not making anything more equal. If we're interested in that let's pare back ballet classes and dance and art until participation there is one to one.
you're like a brick wall. no one can deny there are women who want a man meal ticket. but the phrase "most women" is repellant to me. i don't know where you're finding your women, i truly don't. i used to manage a gym, coed. and one thing i had to deal with EVERY DAMNED DAY was guys bitching about the women using the equipment in a facility that was once all male. nevermind the fact that most of the ones who DARE enter the freeweight room were every bit as committed to serious exercise and training as the men were. you need to stop that RIGHT THERE. if some idiots are hanging out by the machine disturbing your concentration, tell them to hit the juice bar. men do it, too! i'm GLAD that a guy is suing an all female fitness center. it's unlawful. my neighbor actually managed the local curves. she had only two male clients there, but she wasn't allowed to turn them away, no matter how the older ladies bitched. i don't object to you desire for legal protection, what i strenuously object to is your consistent villification of the female gender as a whole.
RE: you're like a brick wall. no one can deny there are women who want a man meal ticket. but the phrase "most women" is repellant to me. i don't know where you're finding your women, i truly don't. It's called "society" - that thing you and I *BOTH* bitch at and about cause we're not like that. This is a counterculture kind of site. RE: i used to manage a gym, coed. and one thing i had to deal with EVERY DAMNED DAY was guys bitching about the women using the equipment in a facility that was once all male. I can see why you feel that way - heck I would too. Women BEING in a facility is one thing. I have NO QUALMS about that. What I have a problem with is this happening. 1) Gym has free weights, chalk, ammonia. Squat stands, strong dudes. 2) Woman comes in. 3) Woman gets bug up certain hind end orifice about the grunting. Requests it cease. 4) No grunting allowed. 5) Same girl objects to chalk on her clothes. 6) Chalk no longer allowed. 7) Girl brings in two friends, they request that treadmills and machines be brought in. 8) Treadmills go in. 9) Squat stands sold. Seen it happen time after time after time. You see a dark place with clanging weights, and rather than go somewhere that isn't like that, you wish to go in there and "make it" perfect. RE: if some idiots are hanging out by the machine disturbing your concentration, tell them to hit the juice bar. men do it, too! I sure as heck would tell someone of either gender to take a hike. RE: i'm GLAD that a guy is suing an all female fitness center. it's unlawful. my neighbor actually managed the local curves. she had only two male clients there, but she wasn't allowed to turn them away, no matter how the older ladies bitched. Interesting. Apparently Vancouver is sticking to its guns. Maybe I should join. Insist on them getting a squat cage. Make em sell the machines and get rid of the fruit bowl on the coffee table. RE: i don't object to you desire for legal protection, what i strenuously object to is your consistent villification of the female gender as a whole. Well, all I vilify is where women like to go in and screw stuff up for the men. I mean, how often do we decide to go into your crafting classes and screw those up? Know what? We don't. We recognise you wanna be by yourselves doing girly stuff. More power to ya.
listen, some woman making demands of a place not designed specifically for her is unreasonable. i sure as hell wouldn't have put up with that kind of behavior at my gym. if you don't like it, don't join. people can complain all they like, but unless the owner is jonesing for their dollars, i don't see why they'd make the change. perhaps that's where the real problem lies? with gym owners saying "hey, women are willing to pay to work out here, too!" i had to give over one of my racquetball courts to be refurbished for the "kids club" babysitting area...why? because it made more money in the long run. a squat cage is a very good idea. i don't see why curves shouldn't have one. perhaps id request one myself if i didn't think the gym itself wasn't for me.
RE: listen, some woman making demands of a place not designed specifically for her is unreasonable. i sure as hell wouldn't have put up with that kind of behavior at my gym. Amen. But you're in the serious minority. Look, please move up here and open a gym. I know the perfect spot. All you need to buy is Oly plates and bar, squat cages, bench cage, adjustable bench, elephant steps, GHR and reverse hyper.
it' snot the minority, because the majority are making places like curves take off because they don't want to go to the male oriented facilities. you have any idea how long i'd have to work with some woman just so they would feel comfortable using ANY equipment in the free weight room? we had to court women because they paid good money that we needed. most of them wanted to be somewhere else.

There'd be four people in the gym but by golly we'd have equality!
sorry, but this just isn't something i've seen even once. unless there's been flagrant discrimination, no one pays attention. not that i wouldn't protest as vehemently as anyone else against stupid standards, i wouldn't blame every woman in the world for some dumbass bureaucrats going overboard. and a few freaky bitches with nothing better to causing a lotta static.
RE: not that i wouldn't protest as vehemently as anyone else against stupid standards, i wouldn't blame every woman in the world for some dumbass bureaucrats going overboard. and a few freaky bitches with nothing better to causing a lotta static. I don't blame every woman on earth. I've already said this.
then why all the comments splashed here and there throughout the forums degrading women? the "women are money grubbers" "women don't care about men" "women don't care about their sons" and all that trash? that shit hurts.
Quote me where I've said this. And you're putting "all" in there. This isn't the case. Just as how men tend to be visually oriented, regressive, arrested development layabouts - selfish in the extreme. This is true. But not all guys.
shit, i'm not going to look them all up, but i'll refresh your memory: in one discussion about abuse of minors, you brought up that le tourneau freak. you implied that women will protect their daughters more than they'll protect their sons, because they all subconsciously value their daughter's more. that's bull. in one discussion on the random thoughts forum, some guy asked how to get girls to stop making fun of him. you said "make a lot of money," as well as other numerous comments that women just want men to pay for stuff. when presented with the plain fact that not all women do so, you get resentful and caustic.
Yes! i don't like it, i get labelled as one because i speak my mind, kept my maiden name and added it to my married name, wear no shoes, and protest. ppl don't even know me label me through my name, and what really pisses me off is when they don't even bother putting my maiden name down , but only my married name, i always tell them to correct this, they get pissed off, at times i think NZ can be small minded even if our Prime Minister is a woman(thanks God)
again I see statements like this as a warning label. When I hear somebody say "I'm not a feminist but" I figure the next line is going to be something like "..these gelding shears were on sale, so..."
RE: in one discussion about abuse of minors, you brought up that le tourneau freak. you implied that women will protect their daughters more than they'll protect their sons, because they all subconsciously value their daughter's more. that's bull. Well, how do you explain the difference between the treatment of men and of women who decide to dabble in the lives of their students? I mean, they've been putting "older lady, underage boy" storylines in women's shows for quite a while now, and not as something reprehensible but "you go girl" - desperate housewives for example... which as we all know is a man's show right? *snort* RE: in one discussion on the random thoughts forum, some guy asked how to get girls to stop making fun of him. you said "make a lot of money," as well as other numerous comments that women just want men to pay for stuff. when presented with the plain fact that not all women do so, you get resentful and caustic. Well, if they're that shallow, that plan will work.
actually, i'm not a fan of the show, but i do believe she was reviled by the women who found out, especially the incredibly furious and disgusted mother. me, i just couldnt' watch the show, no matter how much i love mysteries. there's no "you go, girl" going on. most of us would be horrified if our sons were so used, and would seek to do physical harm to the woman who did it.
