And I don't say african american because it's a mouthfull and all the black people I know are happy being black as I am being white. I don't want someone to call me European descent.

Cate, I have that pet peeve about the native American thing too, just gets on my nerves.

Anyways, I find the form of the question to be a little odd. I mean I don't know how to feel like any other race because I've only been one race my whole life. I think I get some of your points, like when I was younger I always got picked first for basketball/football games when I was the only black dude on the court/field. I really suck at basketball and I would always tell the team captains that but they always looked at me like "you're black, skill will just come to you" WTF?! I wasn't even mad ,I just didn't want them blaming me for sucking if they are expecting an NBA performance.

There was other stuff similar to the above but that was just a quickie to write. I've really broken away from that collectivist view tho, for instance I don't see myself as a black man but rather a man who happens to be black. I just think that collective core of the "we" and "us" when someone is talkin about their race adds to the fire on race. When more people can start seeing people as just people regards and not a race I think it'll be a step in a better direction.

The African American think gets on my nerves as well. I see it like this I'm either American or the least Black. It's not a big deal at all just a pet peeve.
