    Hi intercity....
Haven't had a chance to welcome you here.

I know what you mean about people caring when another family had a catastrophe,
on a positive note to you...there are some awesome people here on this board who care enough to come to each others aid when need be.

Alot of the youngins coming up don't even know the taste of real food...sad...some don't even know how to cook anything outside of a microwave.

Just think..if we weren't this "old" we wouldn't have such wonderful memories of some really good stuff...
Yes heartache too, but some things have gotten better...some not...ying and yang....or something like that..lol.

I'm so old that, living in the country as a child, we had to walk to the nearby farm to get our milk, fresh from the cow, in a glass bottle...my mom used to pasteurize it at home with her big pot, and her candy thermometer...

I remember we had not just 45s & 33rpms, but 78s!!! Wow those were fast! Sorta like 3 Gig computers.... lol

I remember Tab WITH yummy cyclamates (my favorite at the time)

I remember American Bandstand with Dick Clark (when he was REALLY young). Kids used to rate the songs (can you dance to it?)

I remember Howdy Doody! He was the first Dood! ;)

I remember the mouseketers including busty Annette (b4 she met Frankie!)

I too remember the Dodgers in Brooklyn. I lived around the corner from Ebbets field which got turned into an UGLY aparment complex.

I remember when the NYC subway cost 15 cents a ride.

I remember when it was SAFE to visit Coney Island as a child (or an adult!)

I remember when Kennedy said "ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" and also the speech where he said we would put a man on the moon!

I remember the NYC blackout of 1968 - people helped each other back then. No looting. Can you believe it?

I remember cool cars with push button transmissions! Not to mention the old fashioned sticks behind the sterring wheels.

I remember the Yankees winning the world series a whole lot! Back when they had Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Whitey Ford, Yogi Berra (still around and kickin' out those great one liners). The Mets were (and still are) a joke.

I remember the Twilight Zone (back when each week you saw a brand new episode!), the Outer Limits (are they still controlling us?).

I remember the first color TVs, where people were too green or too purple, and you could never get it just right.

I remember deciding NOT to go to woodstock thanks to media reports saying you couldn't get closer than 10 miles to the site & the forecast was for major downpours during the weekend. I figured they would cancel it at the last moment (as they had before, boy was THAT ever a wrong decision!)

I remember my aunt combing my hair down over my face and saying "Now you look like a Beatle", and my reply was "What a beatle?". I got to find out that night when they made their first appearance, live on the Ed Sullivan Show.

I remember hearing a band of students at my junior high play "the star spangled banner" at assembly in a way it had never been played before. The teachers had their fingers in their ears as it was sooo loud! Thank you Jimi! :) BTW, we were supposed to wear red ties & white shirts on assembly days, but by this point it was more like red bandanas & daishikis or psychedelic paisley shirts.
