You've got to be kidding me! Yeah he was over the line, but just because someone is a racist or just plain insane doesn't mean they should be cut out of all episodes of a show that isn't even aired anymore. If the show was still aired, I could understand a similar boycott so that he not be allowed on the show anymore. But editing already produced shows? That's just silliness.

The show wouldn't be the same without Kramer. We can like Kramer without liking Michael Richards. They're not the same person.

 

sounds like another stratigy cooked up to distract people from thinking about and dealing with anything they CAN do something about. perhapse because people are becoming 'too dangerously' close to awaire once again that there are?

If you're questioning my backbone here, you have no clue what kind of person I am. I don't stand for people being rude, inconciderate or mean to others and I will make it known and stand up for people who won't or can't stand up for themselves and I have no problem telling people if their actions are just plain wrong and offensive.

Just because I said it'd be ridiculous to take him out of past shows doesn't mean I agree with what he did. I don't, there is no excuse for that kind of thing. Go ahead and boycott, that's great, but if you're going to boycott anything, boycott Michael Richards in general not a show that he WAS on that isn't even produced anymore. I think it is a strech to think that he'll be edited out of already produced shows.

Um, what do you mean, no? And clearly, I do realize that we give words their meaning. If you actually read the thread I posted, I did say that the word '******' is either racist or it isn't, it shouldn't make a lick of difference if a white or black person uses it.

I think that's a silly petition, although I do get where it's coming from.

If you actually watch Seinfeld, and edit out all the Kramer scenes, what you're left with is a 15 minute show, at best. All 4 characters are so intertwined in the whole show that it'd be virtually impossible to edit episodes to cut any one of them out.

And I do agree, although I forget who posted it... The show itself is good, although I disagree with what Richards said during is comedy act. One can still enjoy the show and disagree or not like a particular actor.

Again, it's a good thing we don't argue with extremes.

Adolf Hitler's speeches are just speeches, like Winston Churchill's speeches or speeches made by the Queen, granted the all have different content, but they're just words.

Nazism is an action, it was a movement, and it was negative to say the least. What one says and what one does is two different things.



Besides, how did we get from Richards having an obviously shitty comedy routine to playing Hitler's speeches on tv all the time? One has nothing to do with the other. I mean, I'd get it a bit more if Richards was talking about Hilter or something, but I do think we're jumping the gun a little.

The logical way of solving a problem is dealing with that problem directly, and nothing else... If there's one problem, it can't be solved if you mash 20 other issues into it.

I'm not boycotting the petition, by the way. I just don't understand how Richard's outburst long after the show ended has anything to do with the show itself. Using your analogy and that logic, why not petition all Mel Gibson's films for his slander against Jews when he got arrested? Or petition all of Germany for Hitler's wrong doings? Or the Jerry Springer show for having the KKK on there a bunch of times? Since we've got the ball rolling, and that whole wormhole thing.....

 

You shouldn't go around calling people Nazis. For one, it isn't nice and for two I didn't say anything that would warrant you saying such a thing. I simply said that you can't change what has already happened, because you can't... what you can change is what is happening now.

I don't understand how that would be Nazi logic. I did also say that I don't agree with what Michael Richards said... remember? If you don't here is what I said...

I would appreciate it if you wouldn't go throwing around such harsh words... isn't that what has everyone so upset in the first place? Someone throwing around words that are hurtful and hateful?

mel was drunk when he said that... many folks go off on the jews when they're drunk... even some of my best jewish friends go off on the jews when they are drunk... no, they shouldn't do it but they're drunk and so they end up speaking all over the road

What Mel Gibson did is just as bad as what Michael Richards did, and being drunk isn't an excuse, I have been drunk many times and NEVER spouted off racial or anti-sematic rants.
