Religion was there to silence the masses. Its so the poor thought they had something to live for and the rich didnt have to think of the poor so much anymore.

well why dotn you check out the deal with religion starting. A lot of it was to shut the pagans up, whilst their lands got ravaged.

I'm fairly sure that when people e.g Jesus were spreading the word of God and building faith in him were around the chief thing on there mind wasn't control of people. ABUSE of religion is an entirely different thing from religion. Judging christianity on the actions of people hundreds of years ago is exactly the same as judging Islam on the actions of a few whack job terrorists. You can't judge a religion by people who have abused it and used it as an excuse for there own means!

im not gonna vote, it seems quite restrictive...and what the heck is Agnostic/Athiest...how can you be both...Agnostic is you cannot ever prove God's existence, or non-exentence while Atheism is the flat out disbelief in an entity called God

I'm christain, but i don't claim to know everything...heck, ive only read the four gospels and made good hgeadway into Acts...

i also dont know fully what i believe on everything, like Paul, i never really wanted to believe in Paul, but after reading some of Acts, he is looking better...but im still not sure...

Religon itself though has been the tool of the ruling class since the begging of society. People like jeuss might nto even ahve existed, it isn't really relevant. It's religon itself and how it is used and percieved in society that is the relevant point surley.

The old testament and the new testament are two entirely different things, most if not all people who believe in God or are Christian or whatever do not believe in any of the old testament.

though i do believe that's where adam & eve are mentioned
haha i dont know/dont get it/dont really care i guess.

lots/most of vocal christains will still tell you that the OT [Old Testament] is literal, with Adam and Eve, the 9000 year old earth, Great Flood and all that jazz...

now wihtin that group, there are some sub-groups...some believe that the Laws of the OT stil apply [homosexuality for example], but we don't stone anyone because of what Jesus said about stonging [which can apply to other forms of agression and punishment]

others however, will argue that when Jesus died on the cross, "everythign was fufilled" as Jesus said earlieron in various Gospels, and that the Laws of Moses and the Elders have passed, moving us into an age of grace [yet stil with sin and whatnot]

fitting in with the latter group, are oten people who see much i not all o the OT as metaphorical...these people, will still see the 10 Commandments as rom God, but many won't believe in the Bible story of creation as 100% fact, but may see the "days" as not earth days, but as many a many of years, and Eden as the first place man began to farm and settle [which if you follow the clues describing Eden, and the clues given to where it is located, put it somewhere in northern mesopotamia, or persia or something like that...which is technically where the first agriculture was] and then you get some who think the creation story is just that, a story trying to explan how we got here....

speaking about the OT, again, I'm not sure...i highly doubt the Bible account of Creation, but as of now, i beleive that God may have created the fist bit of life, then let us go with natural laws....I find lots of it is easily identifyable as metaphorical [psalms and proverbs], and dont see why much else of it couldnt be as well...but i also see no reason why many of the events could have happend [but with slight embelishment on the part of the writers]

although i find talking about and discussing religion fascinating, it can get out of control, which really isnt all that pleasent
