We turned a blind eye to immigration in the past because the US had a need for cheap labor.

No with the economy turning sour largely due to outsourcing all our production, we blame the hispanic population within the US for 'stealing out jobs'. Not elucidating that we encouraged illegal immigration when the economy was growing rapidly.

What makes sense is legal immigration within North American countries, and sending our production to Mexico instead of China, getting rid of import taxes, and encouraging migration between Mexico, Canada, and the US.

There are enough jobs that can be created. There's just not private capital willing to invest in it because they're focused on short term gains. Which is the reason all our production was outsourced to China to begin with...

Investment can be encouraged, and it would benefit everyone in North America. China no longer needs our help to improve it's economy. :D
