Smoking KILLS. Slowly and painfully. It pollutes our air and makes the young and innocent have to breathe in deadly chemicals at every turn Just because its a slow death, doesnt make it any differenet. Cutting peoples lives is usually seen as a crime. And, for this reason, im HAPPY smoking has been banned in indoor public places Live and let live. Not die and let die Im not sure this is all some big Hitler-like conspiracy, it seems like common sense to me. Although rat has a point in saying the government generally do not give a shit about our health
People ae smoking bloody everywhere, its very difficult to avoid it Whats more, why should i HAVE to avoid it? The air is everyones. Public land is everyones. We should NOT be having to put our, and our childrens health in SERIOUS danger because we want to take a walk or go for something to eat You could argee the land is therefore the smokers too to do what they like in The difference is theyre the ones shortneing innocent lives with their filth. This is unacceptable in any form
hereabouts, before the ban (about 6 years ago), none of the dance bars or pubs or the like were non smoking. -none- of them. which mean you couldnt go out fora drink witha friend without inhaling crap, you couldnt dance on the dance floor without nearly being burnt by some fucking moron with a lid cig in their hand while dancing. adn the restaurants smoking "section" was a joke, no separate ventilation so it went to the rest of the restaurant more often than not. and if the place was busy you were seated in the smoking section i do think its fucking idiotic to try and ban smoking outside/on the streetwalks or in peoples homes. homes are personal choice, outdoors is ventilated well n all. im just happy i dont have to deal with it when i go out
it's been here for a while and i say it should totally be up to the owner i work in a pub style bar, that used to be booming it's located in a poorer end of town, everyone there smokes since the ban this place has been slow a fuck load slower than it should be simply, people don't want to go to the bar anymore when they can drink and smoke at home it's shit for us i'm the only one that works there that doesn't smoke so it doesn't do any body any difference everyone ends up taking breaks for their smoke every ten minutes anyways i've seen the other result of this too, my moms allergic to smoke and it effects her terribly, so growing up we had a very tough time finding restaurants that we could go out to eat in because of the smoking it's hard to compremise for everyone it should be up to the owner, and if at the very minimum we should be allowed to have designated spots for people to smoke in
Like many have already said.....I think it should be up to the owner. A lot of people think that if it were, then all of places with alcohol would chose to be a smoking place.....for more business. But I think if there were about the same non smoking and smoking, then business would even out. And even if it isn't some mass conspiracy, it's working that way as a byproduct. The more things the government takes away from us the less the population will notice it happening.
Connecticut has had that law in place for a couple years. As a non-smoker, I was never really bothered by the smoke before so I didn't really see the issue beyond self righteous reactionaries trying to create villains and then enact laws to create the illusion that the greater public good has been served by slaying them. I used to smoke. Twenty-odd years ago, a cigarette was the perfect partner to an ice cold beer- but now bars are smoke free by law... all for the benefit of public health-- HELLOOOOOO!!!- it's a fucking BAR! I think the whole question of health goes out the window once someone steps through the door and orders their first pitcher! Apparently the purveyors of strong spirits are only qualified to provide a space for people to damage their livers but NOT THEIR LUNGS!!! That's correct... you're allowed to drive on out to the local gin mill and guess what level of toxicity to bring your blood alcohol level to that allows you to careen your three to four thousand pound land missile home (close one eye if you miscalculate) but... God (or AL Gore- what's the difference?) fucking forbid that one iota of stray smoke breach someone's lungs... we want them to be the healthiest tint of god-damned fucking PINK when the coroner examines them trying to figure out the cause of their fucking demise after they got run down by the sot who lost count of how many Alabama Slammers they slammed down in the pristine fucking pub airspace made possible by big fucking brother who knows what's best for little you and me! IF the government is so gung-ho about the public health why is is training citizens to carry weapons that studies show are very dangerous to peoples' health and sending them to far away lands where the unappreciative native fashion roadside devices that studies show can cause limbs and life to disappear. I sure hope that what's left of the lungs contained in the body bags that come back aren't sullied with second hand cigarette smoke.
very well put man especially at the bar scene. seriously. granted i don't go all that much anymore. but when i do go, its not for the better. so fucking lame
I remember watching a comic talk about how they banned smoking in the local strip clubs because they feared for the health of the dancers. "Like the dancers give two shits about second hand smoke when they're rubbing their pussy on a disease ridden pole after snorting up a gram of blow in the dressing room"
In 1977, my grandmother had her blood taken and it came out like water. She had leukemia, and the doctors asked her how many packs a day she smoked, as her lungs were black as coal. She never smoked a day in her life but my grandfather, who died ten years early, had smoked camel no filters for 30 years around her. Anyone who thinks second hand smoke is harmless is full of shit, but still I think it should be up to the owner of a bar.
of course theres harm in 2nd hand smoke...i dont' refute that. its the ideology that we need to gov't to tell us what is best for us and to ban smoking in bars....biggest load of shit ever. i know plenty of bar owners who put out there own fucking money and effort to build a ventilated room so smokers could stay in the bar and continue to smoke and drink. but even that doesn't make the gov't happy fuck them and their high horses
stinkfoot you totally brought up the best point of all it's a fucking bar! there isn't a healthy way to go about it no one comes to a bar sober, orders 1 drink and leaves last night we over served this one guy adam because he can handle it and we know him...doesn't mean it's right tho i saw him drink 3 pitchers of canadian to himself and walk out of the bar
Most of the strip clubs, and a few other bars in the city around here allow people to smoke, and just pay the fine whenever they get busted. I talked to an owner that says the fine is nothing compared to the extra business they bring in. They don't have ashtrays anymore they just tell you to use an empty glass.
This bar down the street has this thing they call a "Keg." It holds 80 oz I think, and it has a tunnel of ice down the middle to keep it cold. It's AWESOME lol
i don't doubt you...but not too many places carry those sized pitchers. Peel Pub had those huge pitchers though (60oz), from what i remember from a few trips to Montreal the largest i've drank out of was a 2 liter pitcher. i had 2 of those to myself. plus shots and bottled beer. this was also in Canada
maybe there not 60 oz...i swear they are, but i've drank pitchers to myself/between my coworker and been fine...
