Pay attention to what?! You can't point me at a post I've made where I've claimed to be Christian because I've never made one. And as to staying on topic, I've followed the debate as it has developed. You have barely posted on topic and your posts are almost all interchangeable.

 

This is utter self-delusion. Your repeated assertions that I am Christian would, in my opinion, point to a supreme arrogant belief that only Christians would disagree with you. You feel that I cannot be an atheist because I see value in God and do not wish to share in your rather tiresome ill-informed lies and diatribes. I have explained my position in the clearest way I feel I can, and you have systematically failed to actually respond to it, but simply accused me of lying or deluding myself. You are attacking me personally on an issue which is actually irrelevant to any thread you have raised it in.

You and wbld, if you are even different people, have both accused me of being "all over the board" purely because I am unwilling to hate Christians simply because I am not one myself or to write lies and idiotic rants about them because of a juvenile inability to live and let live. I would ask for an apology, but I know you will simply continue to ramble and slur with impunity. Why are you avoiding answering my question? Responding to the question "why are you posting off topic?" with "oh you can do it but I can't?" (followed by your by-now signature lie about my religious affiliation) does not constitute an answer. I would like to know why you are posting off-topic.

Committing hypocrisy (i.e. posting off-topic and off-tangent!) in the course of accusing someone else of hypocrisy is hardly befitting of someone who is clearly convinced of, and constantly asserts, his superiority over others.

He's convinced himself that Christian beliefs are ridiculous because they're not based on anything that is physically evidence, while at the same time accusing Christians of being delusional. It's ironic because pretty much every canonical postmodern thinker has challenged the definition of mental illness as having no working diagnosis or theoretical basis - in other words, that mental illnesses only exist because we say they do - in other words, because we BELIEVE in them.

It also amuses me that, despite his claim that Christianity is bad because it is a delusion, he doesn't go after other religions with anywhere near the same vigour. Hard not to interpret that as him in fact just having a personal axe to grind against Christianity - but of course, that wouldn't be very rational or logical, would it?

It cannot be proven that God does or does not exist, since we lack the capacity to see beyond what He is supposed to have created. While it may seem absurd to believe in something purely because it cannot be disproven, it would be arrogant to discount the possibility either.

 

What is your point? We have no proof that the Bible is scientifically or historically accurate, nor any particular reason to think that it is likely to be.

Well, obviously any sane person would want to know what they were going to be asked to do before they said that they were willing to do it. Please tell me what it takes to be cured and I'll tell you whether I'd be willing to do it.

It's idiotic to ask why someone believes they're sane; plenty of crazy people are convinced of their sanity, so it wouldn't prove anything.
