Mere Gurudev - Krishna Das lyrics Mere Gurudev, charanon par sumana shraddha ke arpita hai Tere hee dena hai jo hai. Wahi tujha ko samarapita hai My Gurudev I offer these flowers of my faith at your feet Whatever I have, you have given to me, and I dedicate it all to you. Na priti hai pratiti hai, na hi puja ki shakti hai Meraa yaha man, meraa yaha tan, meraa kan kan samarapita hai I have no love, nor do I know you. I don’t even have the strength to worship you, But this mind of mine, this body of mine, my every atom is dedicated to you. Tuma hee ho bhaava men mere vicharon mein, pukaron mein. Banaale yantra ab mujhko mere saravatra samarapita hai You are the only one in my heart and my thoughts. You are the one who I call out to. Now Make me your instrument…all I am I offer to you
I <3 that song so much. Isn't it just beautiful? Door of Faith is my favourite of Krishna Das's albums.
Happy Earth Day! O God, We thank you for this earth, our home; for the wide sky and the blessed sun, for the ocean and streams, for the towering hills and the whispering wind, for the trees and green grass. We thank you for our senses by which we hear the songs of birds, and see the splendor of fields of golden wheat, and taste autumn's fruit, rejoice in the feel of snow, and smell the breath of spring flowers. Grant us a heart opened wide to all this beauty; and save us from being so blind that we pass unseeing when even the common thornbush is aflame with your glory. For each new dawn is filled with infinite possibilities for new beginnings and new discoveries. Life is constantly changing and renewing itself. In this new day of new beginnings with God, all things are possible. We are restored and renewed in a joyous awakening to the wonder that our lives are and, yet, can be. Amen ---- When the world arises in me, It is just an illusion: Water shimmering in the sun, A vein of silver in mother-of-pearl, A serpent in a strand of rope. From me the world streams out And in me it dissolves, As a bracelet melts into gold, A pot crumbles into clay, A wave subsides into water. -Ashtavakra Gita 2: 9-10
Indeed, I am neither bound nor free. An end to illusion! It is all groundless. For the whole of creation, Though it rests in me, Is without foundation. -Ashtavakra Gita 2:18 --- Giving to Those in Need May I become at all times, both now and forever A protector for those without protection A guide for those who have lost their way A ship for those with oceans to cross A bridge for those with rivers to cross A sanctuary for those in danger A lamp for those without light A place of refuge for those who lack shelter And a servant to all in need. - Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama
Om namah shivaya Om and Salutations. May the elements of this creation abide in me in full manifestation.
He does not see the world. So what does he care for joy or sorrow, Bondage or liberation? He is infinite and shining. Before the awakening of understanding The illusion of the world prevails. But the master is free of passion. He has no "I," He has no "mine," And he shines! -Ashtavakra Gita 18:72-73
Verses on the Faith Mind (Hsin Hsin Ming) by Seng-T'san Third Patriarch of Zen The Great Way is not difficult for those who have no preferences. When love and hate are both absent everything becomes clear and undisguised. Make the smallest distinction, however, and heaven and earth are set infinitely apart. If you wish to see the truth then hold no opinions for or against anything. To set up what you like against what you dislike is the disease of the mind. When the deep meaning of things is not understood, the mind’s essential peace is disturbed to no avail. The Way is perfect like vast space where nothing is lacking and nothing in excess. Indeed, it is due to our choosing to accept or reject that we do not see the true nature of things. Live neither in the entanglements of outer things, nor in inner feelings of emptiness. Be serene in the oneness of things and such erroneous views will disappear by themselves...
"Down on the lake rosy reflections of celestial vapor appeared, and I said, 'God, I love you' and looked to the sky and really meant it. 'I have fallen in love with you, God. Take care of us all, one way or the other.' To the children and the innocent it's all the same." - The Dharma Bums- Jack Kerouac
What is the difference between Jiva and Brahman? The difference is the same as the difference between rice and paddy. Remove the skin of the paddy and it is rice. Similarly, remove the covering of Maya, and the Jiva will become Brahman.' - Guru Dev Shankaracharya Swami Brahmananda Saraswati
"If you think that you are bound, you remain bound; you make your own bondage. If you know that you are free, you are free this moment. This is knowledge, knowledge of freedom. Freedom is the goal of all nature. Our supreme duty is to advance toward freedom---physical, mental, and spiritual--- and help others to do so." Swamiji Vivekananda
Negative feelings, such as violence, are damaging to life, whether we act upon them ourselves, or cause or condone them in others. They are born of greed, anger, or delusion, and may be slight, moderate, or intense. Their fruit is endless ignorance and suffering. To remember this is to cultivate the opposite. -The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, 2:34
Let contentment be your yogi earrings; Let modesty be your pouch and begging bowl; Let meditation be the ashes you religiously wear; Let consciousness of death be your head-covering; Let pure living be your vow of celibacy And faith in God your staff. Accept all humans as your equals And let them be your only sect. - Guru Nanak
Make me strong in spirit, Courageous in action, Gentle of heart, Let me act in wisdom, Conquer my fear and doubt, Discover my own hidden gifts, Meet others with compassion, Be a source of healing energies, And face each day with hope and joy. - Abby Willowroot ---- OM is the supreme symbol of the Lord. OM is the whole, OM affirms; OM signals The chanting of the hymns from the Vedas. The priest begins with OM; spiritual teachers And their students commence with OM. The student who is established in OM Becomes united with the Lord of Love. -Taittiriya Upanishad
"For me, prayer is a surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward Heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy; in a word, something noble, supernatural, which enlarges my soul and unites it to God.... I have not the courage to look through books for beautiful prayers.... I do as a child who has not learned to read, I just tell our Lord all that I want and he understands."- St. Therese de Lisieux
There is a city with eleven gates Of which the ruler is the unborn Self, Whose light forever shines. They go beyond Sorrow who meditate on the Self And are freed from the cycle of birth and death. For this Self is supreme! -Katha Upanishad
That which is the most subtle -- this whole universe has That as its self. That is the Real. That is the Self. That you are. - Chandogya Upanishad
