quote: A "realist" who doesn't understand 11 out of 11 gay marriage bans passing in 11 different states all over the country, who doesn't recognize gains in the House and the Senate, doesn't see the most powerful democrat in the US {Daschele} going down in defeat, hasn't realized that this is not only a significant electoral college victory, but also the first majority president since 1988, 1984, and 1980. You are not following me. I think I am better than most Americans and I am not afraid to admit it. I don't care that the majority does not agree with me because the majority is clueless. I am the grandson of a world war 2 hero, born during vietnam in an air force hospital and I am ashamed at what this country has become. Should a german during the nazi era have supported the leadership just because they were the majority, how does history view the majority in Germany during that time period now, how will the majority in America be judged in the future? By other countries....... yes, my isolated fellow poster, there is a big world out there, and it does matter.......
The states that voted Kerry (New York, California, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and so on) are 10x smarter and more in tune with the issues than all of the states that Bush won. Bush won states where they the people still think we are in 1860, wave confederate flags and drink beer all day (Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee etc.) Maybe if the people from those states understood the issues that Kerry was trying to challenge, then they would have voted for him.
I can't argue with ya THERE! I've known many Really Smart people from Minnesota Some Famous! Some not. All I know is Minnesota, and Nevada. We both know what states voted for Whom. 'Nuff said?
Smartest States in the union based on the findings of the Education State Rankings, a survey by Morgan Quitno Press of hundreds of public school systems in all 50 states. (Taken from netscape.com hompage under What's New) 1. Massachusetts-KERRY 2. Connecticut-KERRY 3. Vermont-KERRY 4. New Jersey-KERRY 5. Wisconsin-KERRY 6. New York-KERRY 7. Minnesota-KERRY 8. Iowa-BUSH (BARELY) 9. Pennsylvania-KERRY 36. Arkansas-BUSH 37. Kentucky-BUSH 38. Georgia-BUSH 39. Florida-BUSH 40. Oklahoma-BUSH 41. Tennessee-BUSH 42. Hawaii-KERRY 43. California-KERRY 44. Well then be delighted in your arrogance, And stop complaining about election results, See "ELECTION". See "MAJORITY". See "DEMOCRACY".
If it was only the people who voted for Bush that had to put up with four more years of his shit, that would be fine. I'd sit back and laugh at them as they went into a Great Depression, got into quagmires in Iran and Syria, and banned evolution, comfortable in the knowledge that the ignorant fucks got what they deserved. But it isn't. Bush's presidency affects EVERYONE, including people who didn't vote for him. Whether you're a European, Middle Easterner, or a Democrat, you have every right to bitch about the stupidity of the rednecks in Middle America.
you really need to grow up and stop using such terms as 'redneck' because someone voted differently than you.
While people who made under 30,000 a week were far more likely to vote for Kerry. http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/results/states/US/P/00/epolls.0.html Funny that Bush cutting or ending federal income tax will hurt the red states more than the blue states. We'll have wonderful schools while they go to class in pigpens. If they want it that way, fine!
It's not all Republicans, just most of them. For every person who voted for Bush because they felt comfortable with his plan to privatize social security or because they truly believed the war on terror can be won with military force, there were probably three others that voted for him because "God hates fags" or "them spics took our jerrbs." The Republican Party routinely exploits the hatred and ignorance of voters in Middle America. The Democrats sometimes talk down to voters, but they rarely change their policies for the sake of exploiting ignorance. I'd compare this exploitation by Republicans to a flaw in the Democratic Party in the interest of being fair, but there is no comparison. The Republicans ought to be ashamed of themselves.
when did they change their policy on abortion/gay marriage? Of course, its hard to talk about policies for a whole entire party, since both sides have members who dont conform with those policies. I think the democrats underestimated how many americans believe abortion and gay marriage are wrong.
In fact, New York, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania all went to Kerry. Interesting, the three places actually attacked on 9/11 all voted for the challenger.
do people just choose to forget that the pentagon is in ARLINGTON VIRGINIA?? Why are people listing connecticut and new jersey, just because its it the vicinity of NYC?
People list Connecticut and New Jersey because a lot of people who live in those states commute to New York for work, many people from those two states died in the WTC attacks.
Who cares about Virginia, there were NO casualties, and the pentagon wast Destroyed like the WTC was.
HELLO!?!?! Are you kidding me? New York City, Los Angelas, Columbus, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, District of Columbia.... Heavily populated, diverse, terrorist targets, crime problems, lack of health insurance and education problems... Why would you want a president who represents Richmond and Dallas over Cleveland and Philadelphia? Arizona over California? Montana over New Jersey? Fuck the middle class in their suburbs, driving their minivans, worrying more about gay marriage and the pledge of allegiance than about health care and the deficit! And since when does democracy = majority rule? I had always been taught that it was the diversity of the voices that made america so great, not who can yell the loudest... If 3million more voters wanted to also bar women from the workplace, inact a national sales tax or make christianity the national religion would you be saying that the problem is not enough "connecting" to the south or midwest? Give me a break! Abolition was right before it was popular...
