I thought the book was pretty good, nothing amazing, but pretty darn good. It went off the beaten track a few times, and a few other people's stories weren't quite as interesting and seemed like filler to me. McCandless though, he was an inspiring young man and i give him credit for doing what he did, regardless of a rather futile way to die- he was ill prepared for the bush. The film is a little bit better even I think, I love the soundtrack and feel it really brings to life his story. It all goes hand in hand with me, and whenever I track the mountains by me now I listen to Eddie Vedder on my Ipod.
i thought it was a great book and they made a pretty decent movie out of it too with a damn good soundtrack...the story is inspiring on many levels but the most important thing i took away from alex supertramp is if you want to do something go for it ..burn ur fuckin money n hit the road
