Ipod Touch

I think Apple products are overrated. I'd just wait until something similar but better came out from some other company. I like my ipod, but I stole it; it's not something I'd like enough to buy.

having to bring the internet with you everywhere you go
shows how people differ
i also wouldnt wanna have to watch tv and surf the web on that fingerprint covered screen
atleast ipod is starting to realize some of their mistakes with the iphone
cheaper prices are making them look a little better
good to see them increasing the gigs too

Actually I have used the iphone and the screen stays very clean, IDK how, but it does.

Ipods are head and shoulders above the rest of Mp3 players in every way possible, Apple stands behind their products better than any electronic supplier i've seen, and their firmware and software updates are LIGHTYEARS ahead of other companies puting out Mp3 players, Saying ipods suck is either ignorance or just too poor to buy one

and all that isnt even an opinion IMO, ipods are proven technically better than the rest, they arent the #1 mp3 portable media player for no reason...

and as for that Asus EEE laptop in 2 years that thing will barely be able to surf the web, let alone be usefull for anything else, if i was gonna fork over 199$ for that thing i'd rather throw down another 300 and get a laptop that actually works

oh, and just as an example to backup my saying of "apple backs their products" 2 of my friends both dropped their ipods, one in the toilet and one off a third story balcony, both were fucked but they tidied them up and phoned up apple to ask for replacements, within 3 days an Apple Rep was at their door with a brand new ipod for them, now thats service.

I'm on my third iPod. You know what Apple did for me? Not a single, fucking goddamn thing. And I didn't even drop it or anything, iTunes (another notoriously shitty service) fucked mine up once, and my other one I just turned on one day and it had an iPod with a sad face next to it... You know what they told me? Send it in to the service depot, and we will send you a repair estimate... or you can check out our new 80 gig video for like $350...

Thats quite some fucking awesome service right there. Most all my friends who have iPods that have broken (to no fault of their own), sometimes Apple has helped, sometimes they have said nope, how about dumping another $400 into our products? Their service is mediocre at best.

Dont get me wrong I'm still a big fan of iPod products; but the outrageous prices, and shoddy products have caused my faith to waiver. A lot of the new stuff doesn't particularly interest me, like others have said.... is having the internet with you for every passing moment of your life really necessary? I'll go out and enjoy life, instead of being hooked up to an iPod constantly... and I'll be 400$ richer for it.

Like I said, iPods are cool, just very highly overrated in my opinion. Next one I get will probably a 30 gig video, or whatever is cheapest, has decent space and a screen (fuck shuffles). Hopefully, this 20 gig one I got will last for a while... Though I may need some more space shortly.

(PS- If there is some type of trick I am missing to get a new iPod out of Apple, please let me know lol. I still have a broken mini laying around somewhere, and I'm sure my 20gig is around here too.)

 

349$ for an 80 gig ipod video isnt exactly outrageous for what your getting

Its acctually 250 for an 80 now, and i think 350 for 400 for a 160.

And i have had my ipods break a few times, I just bring them into the apple store, and they have either fixed it or replaced it every time. It deffently does help to have an apple store nerby, they are always really nice about stuff, and if its not too complicated they will just fix it for free under the table.

exactly, if your going to buy electronics you might as well order direct from the manufacturer, thats most likely why apple never did shit to the other ppl in this thread who have broken ipods because they cant take the time to verify that it was yours, so they ask for payment for repairs etc.

when u have your name on file and purchase under your name, apple will never have a problem relacing it

All I know, is I have tons of Mac products, three computers, im on my third Ipod, my brother has had a few Ipods, and they have the absolute best customer service I have ever delt with. My brother fell skateboarding, and his screen craked, and they sent him a brand new one no questions asked. They are a great company that is deffining the future, and watching everone else follow in their footsteps. If ipods were so shitty, then they wouldent be the best selling mp3 in the world.

 

The customer service is still complete shit if you ask me...

But I've only called tech-support... I rarely go to the Apple store because its over an hour drive. The people on tech support line are about as smart as a pile of rocks, and I'm fairly positive Apple outsources to poorer countries... I could barely understand a single word any of them spoke to me, and it was quite obvious they were given a manual, and their knowledge of iPods didnt stem beyond that manual whatsoever. I was telling the tech support people the shit.... it should be the other way around.

I took the mini to the apple store once, and the extent of their knowledge was "we can repair it for X amt. of dollars."

I still dont see what the rage is over the iPhone... A phone with an internet browser, touch screen, and a couple other bells and whistles... Cool. Did you guys really think it would be long before that happened?

What pisses me off about iPods is that people are never satisfied with what they have... In the next two months, when another damn iPod comes out, people are going to be head over heels for that, and rush out to dump another good chunk of change in Apple. You know what they say... greed is a bottomless pit.

The internet in my pocket is not a must for me. It just goes to show how hopelessly dependent people are on technology... is it really a necessity to be able to get on the net 24/7? I think a lot of people invest in it for show... "look at how cool I am! I got the iPhone!" Which is just so lame... Apple trys to sell you an image with the product (basically an image of a very vain person), and so many people take the bait.

Im thinking I may just buy an MP3 player from a smaller company, so long as it has decent space. I'd rather do that any day, as opposed to dumping another ridiculous sum of money into the multi-media conglomerate that is Apple...

iPods are over-rated, honestly, I dont see what all the fuss is about.

 

Yeah, we all knew that somthing like the iphone was coming, so what, that dosent mean people cant like it just because they knew there would be one eventually. And the reason why people always want the newest ipod, is because people want to have the lattest technology. Why do you buy a new computer every few years, a new car. Because you want the best that is out there.

And you also have to see the iphone to truly appritiate it. the desighn is just flawless, and the controlls are amazing, the screen is crytal clear.

For a company whom you claim has the best customer service, you'd think they would at least understand what the fuck is wrong with it, and tell me why exactly their product fucked up... instead of merely telling me how much I should pay them. I was giving apple the lowdown on THEIR product, and all I had to do was look through some Google results.... the best customer service? Hah, far from it.

I dont know. I dont need to be hooked up to the latest piece of technology at all times... maybe you guys but not me. Drown yourself in a bath of materialistic new technologies and see how happy they will make you 20 years down the road...

Also, jusdino4it, I dont buy a new computer every few years. I buy one when mine breaks. Same goes for a car. I buy things when I need them, and because I need them, not to show off to my friends and think that I am buying real happiness in a fancy $400 package.
