The U N has not helped solve Dafur Sudan,
The North Korean Nuclear crisis, and abuse of NK subjects.
The Israli, Hezbolla conflict last summer.
Wars and massacres in Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Congo/ Zaire.
    The India - Pakistan standoff.
    Russia's war in Checznia.
The U.N. Failed to restrain Slobidian Miloslovic in Bosnia.
and at the heart of this thread, the abusive Sudam Husien Regime

Would not go as far as to say useless. They do seem to react quickly to restrain the exercise of United States power. Lots of posturing on Palistinian affairs.

We could expect more of The United Nations.
They could help in Iraq now, after all is said its about the Iraqi People
    not about bush.

The U.N. had some effectiveness in kicking Saddam out of Kuwait. It wouldn't have been much use to Bush Jr. in that context for the invasion of Iraq in 2003 since the 1st gulf war didn't involve the U.S. overthrowing a sovereign state, which isn't allowed by the U.N. charter. That's mainly why the Bush Jr. administration didn't bother pursuing it. The best it could have achieved would have been some military assistance to enforce inspections.

What I find unable to comprehend is that that video shows the bombing of the twin towers as the reason for going into Iraq. If that soldier chose to fight for that reason, he was ignorant and ill informed.

If we truly went in for the children, we would end it now and let their country rebuild. But we can't do that now, because they haven't signed off on the PSAs yet. We have to make them so desperate they will sign anything.

What exactly do you expect the UN to do? Colin Powell sat there and showed port a potties as evidence for the war. And we invaded. The UN doesn't have an armed force or the influence to stop the US under Bush and Cheney from doing anything. The US was slow to support their efforts in Bosnia. It was only when we sent support troops that Bosnia was brought under control.

They can't restrain US might, but I for one am glad that they speak out against it when it's wrong.

Very true, and remember how they ran down France, Germany and Russsia for protesting against the invasion. But within weeks of the invasion they were asking these same countries to forgive the debts that Iraq owed them. Why? Ask yourself that.

I am not going to presume why this soldier thinks we went into Iraq, but if you listen to the lyrics they seem to be timed precisely with what images are being shown. During the 9/11 seen, the lyrics say "you were born into this evil world where men are killing men" and immediately after that the lyrics say "what have we begun, look what we have done, all that we've destroyed..." and the images show bombed out infrastructure. The video then returns to images of Iraqi children.

It is interesting that out of everything in that entire video, you chose to say that the video shows 9/11 as a reason for going to Iraq.

That's because I am a Flash animator and you can synch anything to a soundtrack. And I am still outraged that young people and the American public were marketed a war that was unneccessary!

Do these films ever show improved infrastructure or living conditions for these people that we were supposed to be saving? No because the private contractors that have received the money to do so have no oversight or reason to improve their living conditions. It's time we insisted that they do their work for the funds they have received.

I can't believe you young people don't understand how commercials and marketing are put together, and you don't ask for verification. Jeeze no wonder the world is in the state it is.

Those children weren't born into evil they were born to loving parents that wanted to protect them. And that's what this world should be providing them and their parents, but instead we are leveraging for petroleum rights. How does that make you feel.

I guess a government could put together anything with a nice musical background and you would march out to war....too sad! You are too easily influenced.

Then why did you not pay attention to the synch of the images and the message in the lyrics?

You say "these" films. Do you mean films made by soldiers showing their story in Iraq? If you are interested in films made by soldier showing the abuse of private contactors, they are out there. You are correct in your take on this contracting, but you need to slow down a bit, you're spinning out of control.

Again, take it down a couple notches. These aren't commercials, this isn't marketing. There is no verification needed. They are what they are.

Can you verify this film was made by a soldier? And these shorts on web are commercials, to ignore that fact is to ignore the importance of the net.

I only paid attention to synch because you brought it up.

That's good you are opening up and showing your true feelings. Let it all out. Take a deep breath, it's going to be alright.

What are they then? I've put a couple together myself. And my reason was to get acrossed my viewpoint.

Here's one I put together shortly after this war was waged.

It really does not matter who made the video. All it is showing, as the thread title states, is a different perspective of Iraq. It is not asking anything from you. Why are you so offended by them? Because they do not show blood and guts and destruction? Are you afraid to think that there anything but horror, death, and mayhem? These videos are simply showing images that you will not see in most media, which is why I am offering an easy way for some to view them. They are not trying to sell you anything. If you are that unsecure that you cannot even view them without having to tell yourself that it is some kind of propaganda, then simply do not watch them.

You were quick to judge the reason why the video was made was to show that 9/11 was the justification for Iraq.[IMG] I was just pointing out an alternative view, which happened to be if you would pay attention to what the images were showing and what the words were saying.

Those neocons in my film have reaped billions in profits, what have the Iraqi children or little Americans gained from this conflict? Please tell me. And don't go to the old thing about no new attacks on US soil. That's just lame and false. What about the anthrax deaths and the downing of the plane in Queens? And what did our government do for the people in the Gulf after Katrina?

Do you see a similarity in your video and the ones that I've linked?

It does matter to me. I have two young cousins in Afghanastan. One that was severely injured in December. I want them home safely.

My cousins are young and stupid. I chose not to discuss politics with their parents or them. It was the easy way out as far as family. I am sorry I didn't because if they are lost over there it's for no real reason except oil. And that isn't a reason I would risk my family if given the choice. The Bush's, Cheney's, Rice's will end up rich, but my family will have lost it's promise.
