Iraq Study Group?

Yes it looks like a mess in iraq, all these warring factions. But it must be far easier to cut a deal with these various war lords (to exploit oil) than to deal with a representative govt of iraq, who would try and get the best deal for the people. I think iraq has been deliberatly balkanised, divide and rule, innit?
Continuing unrest, gives US army reason to stay. If the people are fighting eachother it takes the heat off occupying forces.

 

So whatever happened to Bush's bold new 'Victory Plan for Iraq'? I think he unveiled that one at last year's state of the union address. Now we need another victory plan. And another after that.

It's getting close to two years since Rummy said the insurgents were in their final throes. Wow. Thank goodness we're to the point now that the whole civil war between ordinary people is now in its final throes.

Iran and Syria kissing our ass? Get a grip man, building nuclear weapons, sponsoring terrorism and holding holocaust denial conferences is not kissing America's ass.

That's funny, I never said anything like that. I said Iran and Syria can't stop the violence in Iraq, so what's to negotiate? What do you think they can do about it that we should be negotiating for?

 

How about Syria letting us build secret CIA prisons in their country? How about Iran's leader writing a personal letter to George W. Bush and every minute asking to have open talks and negotiations. Yeah, they may act tough in the public scene, but in reality they are both terrified of the United States and Israel and do not want to be nuked.

 

Sustain Iraq !!!!!!!! it was never sustained not till now at least...what is actually going there is presense of troops mainly in Baghdad, which also where most of attacks againest troops are occuring...The rest of Iraq is free except of some violent attackes from far, i.e. Air planes, or a quick raid with huge troops against very small group..mainly killing civilians.

As one example, assuming you are even controlling just Baghdad...Let Bush walk alone for 5 minutes in those streets. hahahaha.

Do you know that one estimate says..that around 600,0000 iraqies have been dead since the invasion...can you imagin that...most of them are children, women, and old men. What about the other wounded or dis-abled ?

Not to mention that the casualties of the American trrops are much higher than really broadcasted. Which if really truly broadcasted only states the numbers in the regular army.

The question now..is how to withdraw with some diginty left.

All of that because of one family...the Bush family..(with the support of many other beneficiaries).... attacking a country without real justification..after an embargo of 10 years which killed million of children (and others) for lack of nesecary food & medicine.

By any sense..this is hatred war, with the side gains of controlling Oil resources, and threathing traditional other enmies (none Arabs) in the near by area.

It is one of the most horror crimes in the history of man-kind.

 

I do not think Syria specially has those prisons, maybe other Arabian countries, as well as Euorpe, also the Iranians are just doing a counter game to the game named war on terror issued by Bush.

Also nuking a country like Syria will have huge impact on Israel because it lacks the stratigical depth as a country, not to mention that all sides have some other mass destruction weapons..e.g Chemical.etc. Also consider that Iran has the capability to absorb a nuclear attack and respond later into the direction of Israel, or the American troops in the Gulf..etc..

The main reason for both countries in my opinion is to gain some time till the crazy people are not ruling anymore, and to protect their nations from Mad actions by mad people.
