I've been told that they can identify a person through iris scans 30 years later through the recognition system. How do I know what they are going to do with my irides 30+ years down the road? Am I still going to be in their damned system all catalogued on file when I leave? They haven't even addressed these issues, and I'm not comfortable giving out the mappings of my irides. My doctor doesn't even have the details of my irides. My optometrist doesn't even have the details of my irides like that. It's highly intrusive on my personal property - the one thing that is totally mine and mine alone. It's my body. And it doesn't belong to my company as much as they wish to think that I'm theirs, I'm not.
Exactly! That sums up the sheeple mentality perfectly. Nothing is wrong. Everything is normal and as it should be. Resistance is futile. The government loves you, so just take your chip and be a good slave. Big brother wants to nurture you. Just take this vaccine and you'll be feeling better in no time. Fluoride is nutritious. There is nothing to fear because you are safe under the watchful eyes of big brother. Big brother just wants to help, so just submit already. Just turn on the football game, pop open a bag of chips and crack open that beer.... everything will be just fine, as long as you don't think too much. There is really no point in trying to get through to people who are in a soma coma.
You of all people should know there’s no way to stop the powers that be from implementing this new technology. we can only hope to slow them down, for they alone have the power to spread fear and anxiety of another terrorist attack throughout the populace, turning otherwise free-thinking, independent minded citizens into submissive obedient automatons willing to give up some of their freedoms for the illusion of security and safety Hotwater
An ongoing position must be met with ongoing opposition... "they" have won by persistance. +1 for fighting the good fight, plz keep this thread updated Instead of controlling the "good" to weed out the "bad" we need to be adressing what possesses someone to perform actions with mal-intent at its source... Its a logical conclusion, but to those who are selfish enough to believe everyone but them are "bad" people... the conclusion must be self empowerment by unempowering everyone else. Born in sin, god will protect, blasphemy is going against his word as interpreted by men deemed with the power to interpret - a life of fear.... correlations? We are living the evolution of what was once solely religious based control... I look forward to the day when we can all simply live and let live
I prefer the quote by Andre Linoge in the Stephen King Epic Storm of the Century “Born in Lust, Turn to Dust, Born in Sin, Come on In” Hotwater
you already are with social secruity...if you have ever been finger printed, that too. and many other ways we often forget. I hate it too. what would happen if we requested to have our finger prints taken off file?
So, my boss knows how I feel. I've decided to look for a new job. It's time to start looking again, I think. I would trade some wages for more control over the workplace. Hopefully I can find something a bit more fulfilling.
*revives thread* Well, it's been a couple months since I had a problem with my former employer. I thought I'd update you on what happened since I know that some of you have been curious to find out. Roughly two weeks after this whole ordeal, I was ultimately asked to leave. Upon leaving, my Manager told me that I would be paid for the rest of the pay period - and I left my job the same day. People in other departments of the company started complaining about the scanning, and some of them were/are accommodated being given permission to by-pass the scans. Only, I heard just last week that when a janitorial staff was cleaning a door area, everyone was required to enter the building by going through the doors that have the iris scans. At any rate, upon leaving it was declared that I had been "Terminated" on my ROE (Record of Employment) without a noted reason. I looked at my termination pay, I spent several weeks calling HR and at the same time the Ministry of Labour. The company jipped me $694.94 in termination pay. I told the company that I would be filing a formal complaint with the Ministry of Labour when, they changed their minds and decided that I should get a cheque in the mail. They had to re-do my ROE because of it, and I filed it with Service Canada. I filed an investigation with Service Canada during this time as well. I filed a claim for EI (Employment Insurance, aka Unemployment Insurance) at the very beginning of April, despite being terminated. (You don't qualify for EI benefits if you were fired from your employer). They launched an investigation into my entire claim and it was finally settled this weekend. I found $1,451 deposited into my bank account this morning and there is more to come for the next 38 weeks from EI. Although I have started a new job and it was a long and dragged out bureaucratic process, I feel as though I have learned something very valuable from this lesson and life in the real world. I'm very happy that I pursued what I thought was wrong. I am pleased with my government services for being reasonably able and willing to assist me in the investigation. Most importantly, I learned how to stick it to the man - and it feels sooooo good. :coolgleamA:
so I've been thinking about this for a while. Not necessarily Aristartle's case in particular, but more generally the reaction of people to privacy issues. I know rat talks about surveillance and big brother a little bit on these boards and, while I can't speak for everyone, the majority of the time what he writes looks pretty kooky. But i don't think there is any denying a general apathy in most people towards issues of privacy. Why? How come we're so apathetic towards our privacy, or the right of privacy? It really isn't fair to end the discussion at 'well we're told to', as there are certainly deeper issues. Have we become so divorced from privacy issues? Has the notion of privacy become so divorced from its roots?
I was almost tempted to say "maybe this ties in with the concentration camps thread "... But unfortunately the topic aint funny
You mean why wouldn't people stand up to these kind of privacy invasion acts? Fear of losing their job is a strong one. I remember at my last job they would take our cellphones away in fear that it will distract us from doing our job, along with having to leave identification papers every day at the gate along with many other pointless rules like that... It was like working for a top secret spy agency Yet no one seemed to be bothered by all that except a few
Yes I mean why. Fear of losing a job? Why does one choose apathy towards privacy over having to find another job?
Many people live paycheck to paycheck and have people who rely on them to feed them and give them shelter. People put up with some pretty awful crap to keep their job when they feel there is no alternative. For some of these people privacy issues would be meaningless compared to what they put up with.
the government, employers, pretty much everyone in our lives tells us that we must live in fear for where our next check comes from. that we want to "get ahead" in this system of shit. do not underestimate the power of repetition. you hear it often enough until you believe it. btw... ari, i hadn't read this thread before, so i'm really glad it came up again. good on you for fighting the system! it's people like you and others of us on here who are stepping out of the system and making our voices heard about how WRONG things are, who WILL eventually make a difference. if enough people simply refuse to live in a system like that, eventually the system will crack and fall apart. it's in the process of doing so right now. and FUCK that if anyone ever tries to put a chip in me or scan my fucking eyes. my prints are on file because i've worked as a caretaker, but aside from prints, NOTHING on me gets scanned. period. i do not want to be tracked and watched like some fucked up sci fi movie. we HAVE to put an end to this kind of shit.
