Is America getting more stupid?

I'm not American.. But as an outsider looking at the States...


I see alot of people that are becoming emotionally, mentally and physically lazy...

 

Well I can actually agree that people are becoming more lazy..... cant agree with the more stupid...but because of technology I can agree with the more lazy.

When I was a kid we played outside every second that we could.... now the kids seem to sit by the computer, tv, etc. and not go outside.... just a small ex. of how laziness is starting young.

 

But maybe it follows too that people (and I think United Kingdom is going through it too) use their brains for less and less..

Some of the easier thought processes are starting to become alien to alot of children, and adults losing them too gradually as technology takes them away from us..

 

True... but then wouldnt they be replaced with a different sort of "intelligence"- or at least skills?

 

well, like i said, people may be getting more physically lazy, but mentally, the vast majority of people have been mentally un-adroit anyway. the vast majoirty of people have typically been in trade, low-brow jobs, physical labor, etc. only now these same people have more access to the internet, news (news overload, too) and the media. we're also living closer together due to the higher population.

 

NOT HEALTHY AND LEADS TO OBESE KIDS = I SEEN ENOUGH OBESE KIDS AND TEENS TO MAKE ME SICK.

 

I'd go along with that.. Definately.. But what we always thought of as basic skills and intelligence seems to be disappearing..

I miss witnessing a little lateral thinking to problems that people face..

And everybody seems to look for the cheat today..

 

well, the ones that can find it are clrealy developing skills that are very handy in the modern world.

 

i can just see some guy hauling his stuff around on a couple of sticks that are dragging on the ground looking at the guy who invented the wheel and thinking so himself "that guy's just lazy. what a cheater."

 

you know, it's just human nature to do and think as little as possible the things that don't interest us. people haven't changed at all.

 

I though it was to relish a challenge..

 

"Stupid" is a General Simplistic Term...

 

Very true, but it's about as much as we Americans can handle at present.

i hate being called stupid. i do, however, enjoy my title of total moron. don't try to understand it.

 

Great-- now I'm going to lose my entire afternoon scratching my head and furrowing my brow in a vain attempt to understand... whatever it is that your title means. Anyone have a nice piece of toast- and a straw?

 

i told you not to try. and don't snort the toast, it screws with your snot and makes a terrible mess when you sneeze.
