Ya dude Christiainity is watered down, amen. Yahweh does want ALL from us.. but I believe that means our lives. So while we daily give our lives up to Him in submission, things like giving our money away or becoming missionaries only come naturally because the Holy Ghost is guiding. I think giving 100% in prayer/worship is key too.. you really want to annoy some religious people and more importantly please God, start worshiping like you really need a savior.

St Peter was a fisherman with his brother St Andrew. I do not think it says if they owned their own boat or not, but they at least had a house because that is where St Peter's wife's mother was sick when Jesus healed her. Their houses were not like our houses.

Luke 21:1-4 isn't really talking about generosity but about love and trust in God. ;)

Like it was mentioned above, it's the Love of money that is evil. Money, by itself, has no more good or evil in it than a brick or a hammer. It's merely a tool to accomplish something.

The rich man's mistake in Matthew 19:21 was not that he had money. Many righteous people in the Bible had money. His mistake was that he valued that money over God.

I'm not discounting charity. Giving is extremely important (1 John 3:17). We need to keep in mind though that, as a resource, money needs to be managed wisely.

If all of the wealthy Christians emptied our their bank accounts and sent it to the poor, it would only make a difference for a short time. A much better approach is to teach people how to live a Godly life so that they might also receive blessings (financial and other). Ultimately, God is the provider. Jobs, charity, etc... are merely some of the means that He uses to provide.

I'd argue that a Christian with money is doing right, if they use that money in a way that benefits their fellow man and furthers God's kingdom (charity, missions, ministry, and the like). If they are hording that money without regard to others, then it has become an idol to them since they are placing it over God. I don't know a lot about Joel Osteen who was mentioned earlier, but it might be worth looking into how much money flows back out of his church to help others before condemning him for wealth.

    Matthew 6:28-33 says...
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

    1 Timothy 6:17-19 says...
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

Situation or situatedness: through the looking Glass of CYPHERS?

Actually I've got a real bother. How can we think of these abstracted duplications of our concrete Situation? We are reading and staring at our books like well brought up children. Thus the situation fosters a notion of Believing: which is for the original Concrete origin of being situated, or is it for the way the plot thickens in the mental state of Godly Imagination?

First, we need to be careful not to be judging others but at the same time we do need to try and help and assist others, sometimes it's a fine line.

As for the money changers, Jesus acted the way he with them because had they perverted his Father's house from a place of worship to a place of commerce and especially because in doing so they were taking advantage of the poor that could not afford it. Do you feel the ones you are "angry" with are doing something similar?

Last, when talking about being willing to give up everything for the Christ, what is being talked about is, in the near future Christians will have to decide between everything they have and being Christian.

So now is the time to decide if anything is worth giving up being a Christian.

So now is the time to decide, not just if some form of riches is worth denying the Christ but what if your mate, your children, your friends and even your whole congregation deny God and the Christ, with who will you stand?

What if it's just that to feed your starving family and the only way to get a job to feed them is to deny God and the Christ, with who will you stand?

Soon all true Christians will be hungry and homeless, the question is when you have nothing how generous will you be?

I'm not sure if I'm reading this correctly, but shouldn't a Christian see God, and God's word as "concrete"? Certainly, to a believer, trying to raise up somebody by teaching them to tap into God's blessing is more valid than trying to raise them up with rice and wheat.
