Alabama joins Georgia, 20 other states in getting rid of conceal carry permits Alabama residents will no longer be required to hold a permit to conceal and carry a handgun in the state after Gov. Kay Ivey (R) on Thursday signed a bill effectuating the change into law. The bill, which was passed along party lines with major Republican support and Democrat opposition, takes effect in January of next year, according to a press release from the governor's office.
Sure they aren't assault rifles, they're assault weapons in many jurisdictions. Assuming no assault rifle has ever killed anyone in the U.S, which I would have to check....could you please tell us how many civilians have been killed or wounded by your civilian AR15 and AK 47 variants?. Or would you like me to look it up for you?
It's a meme, and I didn't make it. A quick search gets this from the CDC.... "Firearm Violence Prevention |Violence Prevention|Injury Center|CDC" Firearm Violence Prevention |Violence Prevention|Injury Center|CDC Suggesting potentially 2.5 million defensive uses annually.
In a jurisdiction where personal protection is permitted, herd “immunity” will protect the masses, … including the sheep.
Don't see the meme statistic there, only an estimate of "a range of 60,000 to 2.5 million defensive gun uses each year." without any indication who, what, where, or the circumstances where like are police shootings included, defense gang shootings? And the range indicates they really have no idea.
Not legally. So you can't explain why some weapons can be banned, regulated, or heavily regulated but not others. You seem to feel that allowing anyone to carry concealed weapons around is good, but fail to explain why. And you can't explain why you don't see claymore competitions around camp Perry, wherever and whatever that is.
I did not mean to be obtuse. My point is: Everyone is safer in a “conceal/carry” jurisdiction. … even those against self-protection. Rationale: A crook will be less inclined to instigate a crime if there is a possibilty that his target is armed. In a non-carry community, the perp can be quite confident that he will be the only person with a weapon.
Am I baiting? I thought my point was clear. 1. The supreme court has determined that the 2nd allows the banning and/or heavy regulation of certain weapons. 2. Certain weapons are banned and heavily regulated, or moderately regulated. 3. Most of the heavily banned and/or heavily regulated weapons are the very weapons that would be most useful in repelling an outside attack on the U.S. or most effective in overthrowing our own government. 4. Many pro gun individuals think the 2nd was written to allow them to overthrow their own government. 5. Many pro gun individuals think the 2nd was written to allow any citizen, not just those in a well regulated militia to own weapons. 6. We know that many individuals are banned from owning guns. 7. We know certain weapons are banned from certain localities and uses. So... I'm asking you, in your opinion or based on your legal understanding: 1. Why can some weapons be banned and not others? 2. What is the criteria for banning certain weapons and why and how are those criteria developed and applied? 3. Why can some individuals be denied the ownership of certain weapons? 4. Why can some, if not all weapons be banned in certain areas but not others? 5. What is your understanding of what the 2nd allows in regards to weapons?
I understand your rational, I just don't think it's very rational. If a criminal has enough motivation to commit a crime he, or she, will attempt to find a way to commit it. For example, if I know you're armed, and in your example I would assume everyone is armed, and I want to rob you, I merely wait for the appropriate favorable situation. In other words I "get the drop on you" before you can bring a weapon to bear. Or I simply eliminate you before you even know you are being stalked as I have my own gun just like everybody else. Instead of arming every Tom Dick and Harry leading to shootouts all over the place, I think it would be much more rational to try and eliminate the motivations for crimes instead of living in constant of fear of being attacked.
