If you go by wiki, which is pretty universally accepted I guess, a drug is : any chemical substance that, when absorbed into the body of a living organism, alters normal bodily function[5]. There is no single, precise definition, as there are different meanings in medicine, government regulations, and colloquial usage.[6] So coffee is a drug if pot is, and so is a Hershey bar, but caffeine is considered benign by most of the world while THC is seen as harmful. I think the reason for this is mostly political in nature, but of course there's that grain of truth to all the anti-marijuana propaganda. I mean, most lies have a tiny aspect of truth to them or else nobody would buy them. When you wrap your lie or your myth around a truth, it's easier to get people to take the bait. I think pot is dangerous if consumed carelessly, when you lose sight of how it's effecting your life and your relationships. It can be tough to keep tabs on that, but you have to try. Don't be afraid to listen to others when they tell you to cool off on it either. Taking good advice doesn't strip you of your own self-reliance. Deciding to do so is actually a form of thinking for yourself. I do think pot gets a bad rap from the political right but I also feel irresponsible calling marijuana an herb. I think it's a misleading term. Chamomile is an herb, basil is an herb, and neither of those substances effects my mind like pot does. Pot is a psychoactive substance, it does effect the nervous system. A lot of good has come from it, and some bad as well. I think people who are stoned more often than not could be headed for trouble, but I also think those who judge others for smoking better look at their own preferences first. Yeah pot really is a drug, but drugs are not inherently harmful. It's the individual who abuses the drug, not the other way around. After all, water is a prerequisite for life yet if you drink too much, too soon, it will kill you.
A wonderful example of thread pwnage. Good post. I gotta say though, I see nothing wrong with being stoned more often than not. haha I prefer it that way, actually. All that is required is that you keep your priorities in check and do what you need to do. Aside from that, I agree with everything you said.
technically, any substance that has an effect on your mindstate or physical condition is a drug. however, when most people hear the word "drug" they think "illegal!" ironically, 95% of them are drug users considering they all probably have an intake of caffeine at least once a day. and among them, 95% of them can technically be considered drug addicts because they can't live properly without the caffeine. so yes, pot is a drug. the funny thing about caffeine is that, if you think about it, it makes roughly 95% of the world drug users and 95% of them addicts. so much for the war on drugs huh?
Yeah society's views on drugs are ignorant as fuck. Even though marijuana is a drug, it's probably true that most of the foods and drinks we ingest in our daily lives are much more harmful for the body than marijuana could ever be.
If you can pull it off, if you have the maturity and the work ethic to keep it together while stoned most of the time, all power to you man. From firsthand experience I've learned I'm better off keeping it to just a few times a week at most. But everyone's different.
Yeah, through trial and error over the past 9+ years, I have figured out how to keep my shit straight. lol Different tokes for different folks:sifone:
yea i agree. during summer i would smoke every day, but now that school started, well i just don't have enough time to be stoned, with all the hw and studying... but on the weekends i smoke the bright side of this is that my tolerence is so low now, so when i smoke on friday im gonna get so stoned
