is the internet destroying literacy?

    Most I know sound more like americans but then thats TV not text.
    Not true really, people interested in people will go find them, those of us who don't like people can now communicate with others precisely because of the net, before that it would of just been radio 4. :)

    Even in olden times there were ways of conducting non-committal long-distance conversations with strangers - pen-friends, radio hams etc. The Internet has just made this more convenient and accessible.

    If there was no internet then i wouldnt be here, i wouldnt be out with my mates (as you may know why) id be plonked in front of the TV for a while. And i have to say i prefer this to TV.

    If there are people who don't like reading, it's not the fault of the internet, they wouldn't read anyway.
    It depends on the person. The internet can be used in ways to stimulate literacy.
