is there a right way to fill a pipe?

Yeah it's most likely the size of your bowl. Since i always smoke in groups of 7+ i bought a bowl with a huge bowl and we always get 20-25 hits per pack.

 

well, to personally answer this question...

1. i smoke heads... anywhere from 1-3 hits and i can be stoned or ripped off my ass....
2. fresh hits... as soon as a bowl starts reaching its its 4th hit or so it starts tasting like ass.. i like to enjoy the flavor of the smoke... not some res'ed up bowl pack

but in all reality its just a matter of opinion... one or the other will have no effect on your high....

no joint i roll is usually more than 2-3 bowls... whoever said 4-5.. thats one big ass joint.. more like a spliff

and save your self a couple dollars and the heartbreak of losing a glass screen if you decide to ever buy one... a pebble will do the exact same thing.. and they are free and everywhere

 

Assuming it's one of my glass bowls, I:

1. Take a small pinch of bud, preferrably fresh and don't put this thru the grinder. Press it into a small disk maybe 3/8" across real quick. Lay that flat in the bottom - it works like a screen, and I have re-used the same "bud screen" thru multiple bowls. When you are done, make sure it is torched too.

2. Add some bud that has gone thru the grinder. This is the main smoking mass. Pack lightly so it draws easy. Ground bud burns more evenly and controllably. There is a reason cigarette tobacco is ground up. I recommend minimum grinding and a grinder that has slots and holes. If the ground bud has to go thru only small holes, it will either dust up, or gum up the cutting teeth, depending on how dry it is. This is mitigated by large holes (slots) and gentle grinding

3. Top with hash if desired.

4. Light it at one edge, just enough to get it going. Nurse it. Use minimum flame. You are getting THC from the trichs that are just close enough to flame that they are vaporized. Direct fire destroys THC before you get it. So by burning evenly and slowly across the bowl, you get the max vaporized THC. Torching the bowl just minimizes the high and maximizes the carcinogens.

5. Be stoned.

I always clean my glass in an alcohol bath after use, so they are all pristine clean every time. I'm OCD a little I guess.
