4 months eh? You'll be back ;) Sounds to me like you aren't quitting but taking a break... Sorry if I'm wrong.

I don't dispute that if someone TRULY wants to stop then they are able to. There is nothing physical to prevent you from just never smoking another joint again. The problem is that more often than not people say they want to quit but deep down they themselves know that they will be back. Unless you REALLY don't want to smoke anymore then you'll always find a way to persuade yourself that one more session is alright...

From what I've noticed, the people who struggle most with ganja are those who have tendancies towards depression or are unhappy with themselves or their lives. Ganj is a temporary solution to their problems and because of that the temptation is always there to light up. Unfortunately this only exaggerates the problem as when they sober up their problems are still there and they know deep down that they've spent the time stoned instead of trying to deal with their issues. It's a vicious cycle... Escapist behaviour at it's worst..

Another problem could be that those who are 'psychologically addicted' may not actually WANT to quit. Even if they can see the self destructive effect weed has on them, many people just like being stoned too much. It's sad but it happens a lot... I've seen a few highly intelligent, gifted people just lose all motivation to do anything other than get stoned..

Just becuase YOU didn't have any trouble quitting doesn't mean that others don't. Yes, we are all responsible for our own actions but at the same time weed is something that can be very hard to get away from.

And just out of interest, wouldn't you say that making you 'stupider' is a pretty bad side effect?!

It's a proven fact that marijuana causes harm to the brian waves, the frontal lobe, can (theorhetically) cause cancer, and (since it is stored in your fat) can sedate you for up to a month.
    But nice try though.
I have my sources*, where are yours?

*I'll show 'em if you really want to see.

ok i know im new to this thing so what i say probably isnt going to mean anything to you.. not to mention that you probably think im dumb because i dont use punctuation when i type but whats the point.. who i am i trying to impress?
but your whole thing about its a fact that marijuana causes damage to brain waves, and frontal lobe or whatever you said doesnt really mean anything even if you CAN prove your sources because your sources are WACK! Do you believe everything that the scientists, government, and FDA says? because if you do you are living a lie. what the fact is, is that they are telling u this bullsh*t LABELING it a fact and shoving it down your throat. believe what you want but im not going to trust anything "powerfull" in this country or the world, especially a place in which marijuana is illegal but you can get a prescription of oxycontin, become extremely addicted and ruin your whole life, or get cancer and be told that you need chemotherapy (which kills your body) when the reason u have cancer in the first place is because of all the crap THEY are feeding us. i could go on and on forever but the point is dont let yourself become brainwashed, take a step out of the "facts" and "statistics" and choose yourself over "them".
i dont know where you guys are getting your information from but it really has no logic to it at all the only thing i agree with is that smoking anything hurts your lungs.
oh and yes it is stored in your fat cells... but i dont ever remember being sedated for a month or anything close to that.. but oh hold on i might be forgetting since it makes you lose your memory too.. right??? PLEASE...

    Wow.
    You're very immature.
I DO believe most of the things that indepindent labs say is truth.
Though, like with all information, you have to verify these things.
Now listen child, it is PROVEN (that's right, I fuckin' said proven) that it DOES distort your brain waves and harm your frontal lobes.
And it can sedate you for up to a month, that doesn't mean you'll be high the entire time - use your brain.
And you know, I actually saw through the sarcasm to the point that marijuana does affect short term memory.
    Wanna know why?
That's right, you'd never want to know, because nothing anyone says is the truth, we're all being force-fed everything (yeah, that is until you can see through the BULLSHIT).
    But I'll tell you anyway.
SHORT TERM MEMORY CELLS ARE IN THE FRONTAL LOBE.
Get off your highhorse and go do some research.

    Yours truley,
A very PROUD member of NORML.
    :)
