You were an insulting jerk here years ago and it appears even after taking some years off---you have returned with the familiar MO we so remember you for. Welcome back.

    No problem Rat.
Don't worry about offending me, I just go with the flow and I realize how abrasive I sound at times.

We're just having fun and talking things over. :)

Scientists have been worried about pandemics for decades. That's why the US funded the research studying viruses jumping from one species to the next.

The Gates Foundation has prioritized research into diseases since it was founded.

The fact that a deadly virus escaped a facility in China was bound to happen. So preparing for that didn't require a crystal ball.

I'm sure China didn't intentionally release a virus on its own people, especially without a vaccine or antidote.

So keep Occam's razor in mind when weighing conspiracy theories. Usually the most obvious cause is the real one, not some vast secret conspiracy.

I am happy Pressed Rat is back, he sparks some interesting conversations!

And yes, the elite are happy, getting richer than ever, what with a massive tax cut in their favor..and massive reductions is programs that help the underprivileged. It's a return to the gilded age, as seen in the decorations all over the white house (not to mention the ballroom).

I do wonder if all the gold trim in the oval office is really gold, or just cheap plastic like you would see in Las Vegas.

I found the AP to be unreliable these days. Reuters is a better source.

BBC, unless you're British and hate them, is a good source.

    NPR always a good listen.

The Guardian is The #1 source of unbiased info about the US and the world. Their in-depth reporting is now better than the Washington Post which is now a mouthpiece for billionaires.

Also a great source is France 24, as well as Euronews.

It's funny how these foreign news agencies report stories about the US that never show up in the US. That's why Europeans are so much better informed about America and the world than your average American.
