I've gotten used to working full time now, and I really like my job. But full time still blows. I applied for the assistant manager position. a raise after three years would certainly make it a little more worth it. Just discovered wraps, don't know how I avoided them for so long. so good. turkey, salami and cheddar on a spinach wrap!

More exciting news: My dad and sister just got to Michigan. They're bringing back my grandma! I'm so excited to see her! I think there's a picture of her in my albums from back in my younger days

good morning.......overcast here but still dry.

 

Early, early here in SC...well, Very Early for me.

I can't tell if it will be overcast or not, probably not.

Yesterday I slept away half (or more) of the day then spent the rest of the afternoon talking to the insurance co re the tree that fell on the house and the shoddy, shyster roofer that has billed us and not completed the work. It almost took an act of God to get an agent - or ANYBODY - to return here to see if State Farm's recommended work had been done!

Really, I was nice...for a little while. Then I wound up threatening to Write Letters, starting with the State Insurance Regulatory Board. We would discuss something, and I would repeat what she'd said (I was writing like a mad woman) because in some cases what was said was SO ludicrous, I'd say, "Now I want to get this right because it will be going in my letter(s)". Right before SUDDENLY she decided she herself could come out here and inspect this...I told her "Now, I don't want to have to put on my black pantsuit, write letters and mail them and then distribute them to y'all...but I will." I then remind her, "This is regarding a 94 yr old woman. There is just she and I in this house and I will continue to live in in this house, if one day she doesn't bury me."

So, yeah, she decided she could come...then. lol

Thing is, I have somewhat of a history of writing fairly decent letters when need be. Even though I didn't want to have to start all of that, I really would have.

and NO, the roofer did not do the work he should have done.

He is going to have a hell of a time getting what he billed for...he thought he was going to take advantage of mama. (He didn't realize what he was stepping into when he said he'd take the job - NO ESTIMATE, just hop up there and do about 2 or 3 hours of half-assed work.) After this has all been done, etc I have heard from several sources that even though he is (supposedly) legitimate, he is considered a con-artist and a shyster.

 

starting to spit here, seems like it will be raining on and off for the next 4 or 5 days. oh well. i'm going to be cooking all day, so i don't mind the rainy weather.

right now i'm sitting in a coffee shop waiting for my breakfast and killing time until the library and post office open at 8 and 830.

I really do think its a good idea to limit threads to 1000 posts or thereabout.

 

I agree, makes them easier to follow, especially when I'm away for a few days and try to come back and catch up a bit lol

Sorry about the roofer problems. I really don't understand why people can't have pride in the work they do. The guy should be reported and taken off any kind of recommendation list.

I'm gonna have to get up on my roof to make it right, I'm not trusting any contractors to do proper work anymore.

They sure do know how to cash a check though.

 

What's so "funny" is that this insurance company made this Big Deal that they don't recommend which contractor to use, and initially they made a point to say they couldn't recommend anyone. So Mama finds this man's company (some kinda way I have no idea).

Then at the end of yesterday's visit, the insurance lady actually DID recommend a couple of roofing companies that she knew were good. lol This lady never did say what her position is, but I feel like she is higher up in the hierarchy than being "just" an agent.
