Stick around for the big "I told you so", right? I feel silly already. It's obvious a lot won't change. We'll still be in bed Israel, our version of socialism will still be corporate handouts, we'll still be at war with Iraq and Afghanistan, the list goes on... ...But maybe it'll be an improvement, maybe we'll start investing less in war and more in our infrastructure, public resources, renewable energy, environmental protection, and universal health care. Maybe the super rich will start paying more taxes. Maybe our government watchdog agencies will become adequately staffed with officials who don't have conflicts of interest, or at least there will be more of them. I'll settle for an improvement. At least we'll have a president who can construct a sentence and pronounce the word "nuclear". Of course now that the bush administration has given away most of our resources to private interests and left us hopelessly in debt, Obama doesn't have much to work with. His will be one of the more challenging presidencies in history, poor bastard. Sheeple are people who sit around and bitch about everything while doing nothing. Sheeple don't take responsibility for their country by acknowledging that as citizens they are part of the problem. Sheeple don't vote. If either of you wanna run for president, I'll vote for ya, but you gotta be nice.
Maybe not the Obama camp has come out and said they will speak with Hamas. Perhaps we will have an objective/balanced government? That's probably really going to piss off the Israeli lobby.
Mellow Yellow seems to have a grasp of the situation. Obama can't be too decisive too fast for fear of rocking a very big boat, which like a supertanker takes a long time to stop or turn. I think the Yanks should abolish the American government, thereby replacing the lumbering supertanker with fifty well armed ships which can maneuver while trading. That wouldn't necessarily mean giving nuclear arms to Alabama. The Soviets dissolved their obsolete superstate in 1992 and no one has been the worse for it. That will never happen, of course. In the meantime let's not forget that in July 2007 the U.S. Congress committed $30 billion in foreign aid to Israel over the next ten years (2008 - 2017). If Obama and his congressional majority can turn that around, it will be a step in the right direction, in view of the mass murders of Gaza Palestinians by the so-called Israeli Self Defense Force in January 2009.
it is 17th may 2009 obama has not closed gitmo obama has reinstituted the military trials obama taken the war up a notch by pouring more troops into afghanistan he is still supporting terrorism and continuing the wars that made bush unpopular he has essentially taken the same people as advisors as bush and is essentially fighting their wars. chad freeman walked from a top security post citing israeli interference. are mossad going to kill chad freeman now? viva the change now get ready for more wars that will drain the economy further. next time don't vote for idiots, you have a few years to spread the message and get these characters out of power, democracy is a great thing when you exercise it.
Frustrating isn't it? But when you rail about exercising (or exorcising?) "democracy", what do you mean? What choice did we have? Would you have voted for McCain? That would've been a total disaster! I'm not gonna waste my time defending Obama, I'm as disgusted as the next guy, but it is an improvement over his predecessor, and I'm sure there's a lot of shit going down that he has no control over. A presidential administration is only as good as its congress allows it to be, and it's obvious our house of lords needs to be overhauled, which will take time.
See that, congress getting in the way again, I love how they try to spin it as a "security risk" to transfer the prisoners of Guantanamo to the US, which is complete bullshit, we have plenty of more dangerous criminals in our prisons. The real issue is once these detainees come to US soil they've got legal rights, what a huge inconvenience for our government and our legal system, thanks to the bush administration.
I protested at McCain's "Victory Rally" the day before the election, yelled Obama right in his face, and the next day voted for the first time, for... Obama!
Oh yes, they're all out to get us... and those terrible gays who want the right to get married? What the hell are they thinking. It ain't natural!! Oh, and also, your posts and sig tell me you are a racist.
First off Obama is no worse than Bush Second thing, PsyRock is correct. Second how is his post racist. His sig may be inflammatory, but to call it racist is a stretch. PsyRock, I like your sig. The analogy has nothing to do with race, but that OJ killed Nicole and what Obama is going to do to this country. Why pick OJ and Nicole? So that we can laugh at weak, whiney little bitches when they start crying racism. Actually I like that a black man is in the office, but I would prefer to have Ward Connerly or Star Parker (actually that's a woman.) The bailout is driving us into debt, while giving way to much power to people in DC, the head of the IRS is a tax cheat, Terrorists are being let out of Gitmo, Cap and Trade is going to handcuff our economy when the argument for global warming is starting to unravel, and universal healthcare is going to adversely affect my ability to get to a doctor if/when I get sick. I'm not paranoid, I'm being realistic. Also, I'm not saying Global Warming is a myth like some will say, I'm just saying it needs more study. You CAN NOT trust government!!! Just because a man said he would change does not mean he actually will. He is a politician, all they do is lie. Vote Libertarian, that way you have more power, and the government has less. Obama is no worse than Bush.
i suppose that now the Sheeple are beginning to see what the Nay-Sayer's were talking about. Now that the results are in, so to speak, i truly hope that everyone will be more willing, in the future, to have an open mind that can allow the WHOLE story behind an issue to be compared and logically thought about. :cheers2:
Obama lost his political capital when he coddled wall street, not to mention the wars in Iran and Afghanistan. He's doing better than Bush did, especially considering the mess he inherited from Bush, which everyone seems to forget.
Obama's mistakes were made right after his election when he chose to surround himself with Wall St lobbyists, doing a complete 180 from what he promised. His advisers let him and America down, big time. I also believe there has been a conspiracy since Obama won the election to paint him a certain way so he would never get re-elected. This conspiracy has been very successful and led to the Republicans taking back the House. When Bush was in power, the media kow-towed to him. Now even the liberal media paints Obama as ineffective and losing the Liberal plot. And since the damage to Obama has already been done, all his advisers have bailed out knowing he will be a lame duck, never to get re-elected. They're all going to collect their big Corporate paychecks for the bailouts and future lobbying. If Obama had picked LIBERAL advisers in the first place, the economic crisis would've unfolded differently and the Rich wouldn't have gotten richer at the expense of the middle and poor classes.
Reform... REFORM!!!! Pour me another! :smileylol5: I wonder where we'd be if McCain HAD taken office... (Visions of the apocalypse)
