I was going to start this thread myself if somebody else didn't.

You people already know how I feel about it.

This is standard from Israel. A few rockets come acorss the border causing minor damage and injuries and Israel retaliates harshly against CIVILIAN populations.

Their response is always out of proportion. This is their legacy all these years.

But I think Israel is going to pay for this one. And it should.

Please excuse this Off Topic interruption ~ i want to post to this thread so i can keep track of it! ;)

    Also, i have some questions:

How in the world do y'all keep up with all of this???

i'm a basically intelligent person, who doesn't sleep a lot, who does read a lot, and i'm flabbergasted at the amount, and quality, of information y'all command.

i know about watching certain parts of the earth via satellite, but most of the sites i know aren't exactly up-to-the-minute.

i know there must be a bunch of military info out there, but Google isn't exactly the best source from which to start. ...unless, what? you go to page 407? It seems like so many sites are one-sided, propaganda propounding, whack-o sounding places.

Is there a site that can address BOTH sides of the issues ~ the one's y'all are debating, as well as others?

    Okay, back On Topic:

World War III in my peaceful, gentle lifetime??? Cripes. :(

I'm an Israeli citizen, and I read various news sources daily, so it is only natural of me to be aware of this.

The rest of the people here are just informed (or misinformed), I think that it's one's responsibility to be informed in this world.

This conflict is about to be overshadowed by an imminent India-Pakistan conflict, per example.

Are you suggesting that sites like http://www.aipac.org/ aren't biased?

AIPAC is the biggest public face warmonger that zionism has to offer. They WANT war with Iran, and anybody else that gets in their way. They rule Washington by threat and intimidation of OUR representatives, preventing an actual democracy from functioning as anything other than a harlot dancing in front of New World Order generals.

    Israel, can get bent.

Hah, ofcourse AIPAC is biased, I wouldn't ever suggest getting your news from AIPAC, even though they don't provide news to begin with.

But I will refrain from talking to you directly because you're fucking insane and a huge anti-semite who trolls the Judaism forum for fun. Honesty, what the fuck is wrong with you?

The zionism I address is a political animal. The head is Jewish. Secular Jewish. That's not my fault.

Racists will see it through their own filters.

Xexon? Thanx for the links! i've put them ALL into my news/opinion folder. :cheers2:

Rubin? What makes you think that no one wants to see both sides of this thing?

Unfortunately, i don't believe anyone will be able to supply a link to a site that will do the comparisons with no bias, so i'm going to have to read both sides to have an educated/balanced opinion. ;)

I guess I was hoping for something a little more specific for lobbing bombs at Israel than some unnamed ongoing provocation.

Have you not heard of the Israelis murdering innocent women and children, indiscriminately targeting innocent civilians in bombing raids, bulldozing Palestinian homes, taking over more land from Palestinian settlers, and cutting off food and clean water supplies to Palestinian occupied lands? Or do you only believe in the fantasy world that's reported to you by the corporate media, where Israel is always the good guys? Israel's treatment of the Palestinians is comparable to the Nazis treatment of the Jews, except unlike the persecution of the Jews, these ongoing atrocities are kept well hidden from the Western world by the media.

I guess I have to ask; if they know that this is Israel's standard response, isn't kind of stupid to fire rockets at Israel that "only cause minor damage and injuries"? Really I mean to what purpose? Just to provoke Israel into killing innocent civilians? Doesn’t that make the ones firing the rockets responsible for the deaths of the civilians?

Actually I've heard that from you and xexon quite often but with no real specifics.

As for comparing Israel's treatment of the Palestinians to the Nazis treatment of the Jews, until you can show me pictures of the starved Palestinians in concentration camps or two or three hundred bodies buried in a common grave and maybe a gas chamber or two, I’m going to have to say that’s real bad analogy.

I don't think he is. There is another thread on this forum about Biden talking of a "generated crisis", so far I see this as a "generated crisis" for an American president. But, to be honest, I am unclear of the role America plays in relation to Israel ( a major stumbling block I am sure.) I read the OP and thought it was fair, but, then I got down to America supposedly "green lighting" the response Israel gave, to me this seemed ridiculous and embroiled America into something that to my mind did not involve America at all ( a generated crisis.) What actually has America said? a fleeting response to the situation and a aknowledgment Israel should respond to an attack (in a matter of words) Big f'ing deal...so has many other counries.

It is not difficult. I am sure you know about certain subjects more than the people that you speak of here. This particular subject, although being slightly more complex, boils down to a very simple premise, i'm sure of it. To be honest though, you do need to know the arguements, of which, I am attempting to learn myself. Once you have the main arguement sorted - such as American involvement and their so-called role etc. It becomes a less complex thing to follow, because you have the bedrock in place.

Basically I feel people take information from the mainstream media and information from less sourced material (it still could indeed be "mainstream"), but then add an authority to their choice of words that seems like they have a better grasp of the situation than they have. Not in all cases, obviously. This is also by an apparent authorative tone (they could still be talking out of their ass quite frankly.)

We could indeed be talking about the price of staples Israel and the Palestinians charge, and the same arguements would surface. I really would not worry about peoples suppposed better understanding. It IMO is has more to do with their own personal prejudices mixed in with certain well known facts or their so-called facts. If you do not know any of them, then you seem to be in the dark, when IMO you are battling through peoples opinion and rhetoric, more than the actual events and the facts that are occuring.

I would suggest you choose your source of information wisely though, and get to know the people you take the information from. IMO X and Pressed Rat, are the worst people to garner any information from. Rubin is one of the better contributors, and is a better option. This could reflect my own bias, but from what I have read from him I think you would be better served.

Israel's blockade of Gaza is the cause of this war. Israel effectively turned the Gaza strip into a large concentration camp. Most of the factories and business's have had to shut down earlier this year, because Israel has refused to let raw materials in. They haven't let in food aid shipments, medical supply shipments, fuel shipments, etc. They have expelled all journalists to try to keep the world from seeing the suffering they have imposed on one and half million people. They use check points to humiliate and harass the Palestinian people. You don't increase your national security by oppressing and humiliating people.
