Should the Palestinians ignore that their land has been walled in, curfews inacted, their citizens murdered at the rate of 1 to 3 compared with Israelis? http://www.ifamericansknew.org/media/nyt-report.html My question is what did McCain, Graham and Lieberman do on their last trip to the area. Give an all clear declaration to the Israeli government?
Excellent points. Few of which the American public seems aware. All they hear about are the bombs that are lobbed. They never compare the death tolls, or the state of the Palestinian economy which the Israelis control with their walls and curfews.
You might want to remove the last link it doesn't support your view very well or did you add it for balance?
Not to totally disagree with all you say but I believe this war started long before the blockade of Gaza.
I think it reports what Carter had to say very well. It also points out the view of some that other side should never be heard. And guess who was right there wanting to take away Carter's passport. You guessed it Lieberman.
Unless published in their memoirs we will never know what was said behind closed doors. Our prejudices will dictate what we think was said. Personally I think it was one stop on a merry little jaunt to the Middle East and Europe. What was said in London? The green light to join the Euro? Ok, enough sarcasm. I do have a few pictures though: http://www.theisraelproject.org/site/c.hsJPK0PIJpH/b.3964305/ (worth browsing too.) What was said in public was this: The situation here is one that is very compelling. [There have been] 900 rocket attacks in less than three months, on average [of] one every two hours. Obviously, this puts an enormous strain on the people, especially on the children, as they celebrate their version of Halloween here. "They are somewhere close to a 15-second warning, which is the amount of time they have from when a rocket is launched, for them to get to safety. That is not a way for people to live," said McCain. This "tragedy" underscores the "absolute requirement to pursue the peace process," which is the only cure to the problem, he said. But in the absence of peace, McCain said, he understood that Israel had no choice but to act against those firing the rockets. "When one is attacked, one has to respond," the Arizona senator said. "No nation in the world can be attacked incessantly and have its population killed and intimidated without responding. One of the first obligations of government is to provide security for all of its citizens. The Israeli government has to act in that fashion and I understand it," McCain said. Defense Minister Ehud Barak, who accompanied McCain to Sderot and spoke with him at the press conference, pledged that Israel would operate in Gaza to eliminate the rocket threat. The IDF, Barak said, would "continue with its activities against terrorists and rocket launchers." http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=JPost/JPArticle/ShowFull&cid=1205420724698 Perhaps you see that as: "Give an all clear declaration to the Israeli government."
Gardener, have you gone stealth? Thought you might. Hope you did not ignore: "This "tragedy" underscores the "absolute requirement to pursue the peace process," which is the only cure to the problem, he said." So, when the peace process is persued you can thank him for that.
I little more information on how balanced and humane the Israelis are: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/...of_Palestinian_deaths/articleshow/3759335.cms

No, I highlighted it in nice big black letters. Hence me asking you the question, to which you agreed (it seemed.)
So you are saying that the blockade of Gaza forced the Hamas to start shooting rockets at Israel? That does not seem to be the best way to deal with a blockade. Diplomacy has always worked though. Israel let plenty of humanitarian supplies in, even after the Hamas started shooting the rockets. Hell, Israel would let most of the Gaza strip citizens pass the border and work in it until rocket attacks and suicide bombings got out of hand. It's sad that the Palestinian people have to face the consequences of these radicals, yet sadly... they support them and have even chosen them for government. Journalists are still there. Hell, I'd rather have them stay there so that those biased liberal assholes could get shot by the same Palestinians they are trying to "save". Check points are beyond necessary. They alone have stopped hundreds upon hundreds of suicide bombers from coming into Israel.
In the last 10 years, how many Israelis have been killed by these crude rockets? How many people in a single day has Israel slaughtered in Gaza? With military hardware purchased through the United States, we have Palestinian blood on our hands today as well. Hamas rockets are for the Israeli state of mind rather than death and destruction. It's their way of letting the zionists know that they can reach out and touch someone too. Israel will be found guity of war crimes someday, and the world will take matters into it's own hands if the UN doesn't. Israel is cutting it's own throat. I'm inclined to allow it to happen. The same fate awaits us here in the US if we don't jettison this racist apartheid state. It's drawing terrorism to our doorstep. Costing us our national wealth and the lives of OUR loved ones, to say nothing about what has happened to our national pride. We're dirty in the world eye now. Uncle Sam has become an Israeli butt boy. And the coming world war is due in large part to the expansion of zionism around the world. Something many deny even exist. Maybe becoming a victim of it yourselves will tell you what I already know about it. It needs to be stopped. That means breaking US support with Israel. x
Xexon, i don't believe that will ever happen. The U.S. has a reputation for supporting the underdog, and most of our citizenry believes the Bible concerning the Jewish people and the land they were given by God ~ amazingly enough, even if they don't believe in God. Another poster made an allegory concerning the US and Canada, but let's make it a little more unsavory, shall we? Let's say it's Mexico. Let's also say that they're firing on our border crossings, killing lots of themselves along with us. We know that the terrorists are getting their arms from their gov, and negotiations are pretty pointless ~ they want Texas back, and they intend to have it. Sure, the flipping "arms" are out-of-date, not very powerful/destructive, but our citizenry is getting anxious over the situation, living in fear for their lives, and our civilians are dying. What should we do? Continue to send our citizenry, both military AND civilian, into harms way? Just retreat and let them have it? Or perhaps make it a no-man's land, with only a military population on-site? Sure! That'd work! We would be the good guys, and we would ONLY kill them if they actually crossed our border! Uh, well, it could work, except for the soldiers that were being led, like a lamb, to the slaughter... And that's the deal breaker. No matter how much YOU might want peace, if the other guy DOESN'T, you are FORCED into a confrontation and must decide whether you'll just turn the other cheek and let them have their way, or whether you can see that what they're doing is just wrong, and refuse to let them get away with it. Unfortunately, that generally means war.
Once Christians find out they're next of the list for expulsion from Israel, it won't take long for the support to fall apart. Zionism doesn't stop with Arabs. They're just first, thats all. x
While I agree with you on Israel's barbaric brutality..The Hamas mindset cannot be ignored. Hamas doesn't care about the citizens its 'supposed' to look after, they believe that if it takes painting the streets with the blood of every Palestinian man, woman and child to achieve "victory" over Israel then its all good in the name of God and country...That's a fact. They also try to rally the opinion of the Arab world to see them as heroes...And criticize other neighboring countries and even call them "traitors" when they don't sell them arms or give them their unconditional support or pay them off, after blowing up their borders as what happened with Egypt.
