I guess we could go all the way back to the crusades, or even farther. I believe most Israelis and Palestinians would point to about 1917 or 1920, for the beginning of modern hostilities. British forces occupied the region with a league of nations mandate.

This was the beginning of a racially based apartheid system that established separate laws for Palestinians and Jews. British law made it illegal for a Palestinian to carry a gun or bullets. A Palestinian would go to jail for 18 months for possessing bullets. While it was legal and encouraged for Jews to arm themselves. Jews were encouraged to form militias. While it was illegal for Palestinians to do so, and any such group formed would be labeled a terrorist group and targeted.

You can't have a separate set of laws for people of different heritages in a single state and expect harmony. This culminated in Britain setting up Jewish military forces and withdrawing from the territory in 1948 ,after the Israeli War of Independence leaving a well armed and trained Jewish force to confront an oppressed and disarmed and beaten Palestinian population.

I didn't saying it was the Best Way. But i believe that when Israel cut off one and a half million people from fuel food work and medicine it expected blow back which it could use to justify further inhuman actions such as 200 dead and 780 wounded.

The Associated Press, Reuters, New York Times, ABC, BBC, CNN, Canadian TV network, German broadcaster ZDF, Agence France Presse, don't seem to agree with your assessment about free press in Gaza.

Not only are they restricted journalists they have detained and expelled the UN Human Rights Envoy Richard Falk after he filed his report with the UN.

Israel let in 70 tons of humanitarian supplies into Gaza today alone.

The election wasn't democratic, the Hamas won the government through fear tactics. Ofcourse Israel is going to force the Hamas out, since the Hamas openly declared war on Israel.

All of the media outlets you have listed are extremely biased towards the Palestinian cause and spread misinformation and propaganda.

The Palestinians we not oppressed before they chose a government that oppresses them and forces Israel to retaliate. You reap what you sow.

"You reap what you sow" This would not be good news for Israel in regard to it's treatment of Palestinians.

I hope you will reconsider and start looking at the situation with some concern for basic human rights as many in your country have. Until then i think we can come to the agreement that we disagree.

Israel's treatment of the Palestinians has been just. We moved all of our forces out of Gaza 4 years ago and allowed them to live in peace and to establish their own government. It was the Palestinian people who chose violence over peace and violated the cease fire, now they are facing the results of their actions.

 

The sad thing is that the sympathy card ALWAYS works.

What is happening in Gaza is different than the west bank. In Gaza, Israel removed the settlements and ended the occupation. Gazans then elected Hamas, a party with anti semetic conspiracy theories written into its charter, which is does not accept Israel's right to exist, and which explicitly approves the deliberate targetting of Israeli civilians. Hamas has tunnelled into Israel to attack and kidnap soldiers, and allows regular rocket attacks on Israeli civilians.

No government can allow regular rocket attacks on its civlians without retaliation. It is hard to imagine the stupidity of Hamas, but they are hell bent on bringing war and suffering onto their own people. Its not Israel's choice, it is Hamas's choice.

 

Iranian government funded television which has featured holocaust denial.

Its sad to think that the impoverished people of Iran are seeing their tax dollars go to provide news for anti semites in the United States.
