Well I'm sure if I put my mind to it I could figure out some way to better my position. You see, thinking for yourself and such are good things. So anyway, it would appear you're lacking of counter arguments now?

There's no denying that immigrants to this country have it alot easier today than the european immigrants had it 100 yrs ago. The Irish, Germans, Italians, were all exploited and discriminated against much more brutally than the newcomers of the last 30 or 40 years.

Nobodie's saying it's OK. Racisim is racism.

The African-American community didn't create the ghetto, the white power structure did, via segragation;
It's what emerges when an entire segment of society is denied education, jobs, and forced to pay higher prices for lower quality housing for a hundred years.

Historically the ghetto became crime-central as the result of white organised crime and crooked politicians using it as a base of operations for a solid century.
That way they could run their illegal enterprises--drugs, gambelling, prostitution--somewhere other than their own backyard.
The ghetto provided them with a place that mainstream society didn't care about and an internal populace that had no choice but to join in or look the other way.

Like what? Slavery? The Jim Crow Laws? Segragation? The KKK?
You have to admit, some things needed to be changed and some things still do.

St. Patricks Day?
Thanksgiving? (celebrating the theft, persecution and genocide purpotrated by the puritans on an indigiounous race that initially welcomed them and kept them from starving to death)
Columbus Day?
Christmas?
Easter?
(are any christian holidays celebrated outside of Europe and their former colonies?)

And there wouldn't be a "Black" culture if the African-american had at any point been allowed an equal place in mainstream culture.

Yes, but if you declared a German Pride Day, or a Mediteranian Pride Day, or a Celtic Pride Day I doubt anybody'd object.

Again, there's no such thing as "white culture". If you identify yourself as seperate from mainstream culture strictly based on color you could only do it do it as a declaration of opposition to non-white cultures.

It's not the same with African-american culture. Their's actually is a seperate culture, born of neccesity.
And again, the seperation wasn't their idea.

maybe i cant be pulling new countere arguments out of my ass, but maybe thats because the points i have already made have covered my viewpoint. Besides, i prefer quality to quantity. the fact remains that peopple are fucked over daily, and need help, not be left to rot.

 

That's a very valid point, the white peoples dont have a united ocuntry, italian americans, irish americans, scottish americans, all celebrate there history. Aren't they white americans?

It always annoys me when I see someone of a racial minority with a chip on his/her shoulder over a matter of the past, and by past, I mean hundreds of years ago. I think we need to get over the past and look towards the future. What's done is done, and we can only learn from it.

The other day, a politician of racial minority got imprisoned for stealing something like $80, 000 from a fund dedicated to encouraging reading in young children so that she could have her stomach stapled and send her children to a private school. There was a group of protesters outside claiming racisim. It would be racism if she HADN'T been imprisoned.

It is sad that issues like this still exist.

 

reparations have been paid, many times over, the government gave you money to be quiet about it, so why can't we just bury the damned hatchet?


the reason it keeps going is because people on both ends keep bring it up, it would have been long forgotten as an alive issue if people didn't use it as a leverage......

remember it as history, but only that.....

 

i don't really know how it feels to be black in a white world, nor do u. we might think differently if it were us.
