I definitly agree, everyone goes through fases of different bands, and after that fase passes you still respect that band, because at that moment in your life its what caught your ear. Its the same with Mastadon, JFAC, and Trollfest, I dont listen to them much anymore but I still enjoy them.

Funny you mention Black Metal, most my buds that are into psychedelic music are also into Black Metal. I havnt listened to much black metal myself, but im sure I will someday.

 

Perhaps first via doom/stoner metal :biggrin: If you dig Earthless you'd probably like the heavy metal stoner shit too.

 

Were not talking about bands like Sleep and Electric Wizard are we? Theres so many sub-genres in metal its confusing haha

 

Sleep is a real doom metal band indeed! One of my favourites with stoner tendencies

Edit: Electric Wizard is doom metal as well actually. They just kind of sound more unique. Most doom bands have a lot of very typical characteristics (as with most other fixed metal subgenres of course ), one of them seems to be that you have to hear old Black Sabbath in the riffage

 

Hate to break ur heart but pretty much all of black metal sucks to b honest........i mean Immortal is the one and only one thats good. Although I love dark throne I cant admit they suck too...

I take the music very serious, yes. It's one of the purest artforms I have experienced. Not so much the scene characteristics (and lyrics generally neither), which you can't seem to see apart from the actual music in any genre.
Perhaps people are trolling you in here because this is essentially a troll thread in the first place... I know you're not a very constructive person on here but you should get a grip on the nonsense you post at times.

 

I will add too that even though I myself am not a big fan of almost anything not metal. I did dig Dead Weathers first album and som past stuff White has done. I will download his new solo album, Blueballs or whatever its called and give it a go. Not a huge fan of Whites, but he is known for his freakishy good songwriting skills in an era where seemingly every genre has been done to death, every melody already written.

In comparison to what else is out there, all this autotune crap everywhere, all these 15 min Idol / No ones got Talent show wonders, back to boy band madness with One Direction ( a band name I find very ironic as i'm sure at least 3/5 of them will grow up to swing in both directions ) and then of course theres Bieber......Jack White seems the last musician we should be picking on

 

The title of this thread may attract some wrong attention and i'm suprised it hasnt already, with the title consting of the words "jack", "fucking", and "suck".

 

I like his new song, but I think he's an asshole. He actively hates on the Black Keys. That's enough reason for me to hate him. You don't fuck with the Keys.

 

Where has been hating on the Black Keys?

 

I have enjoyed more stuff of them then of the White stripes overall but the Black keys sound seems to get old already. It's not much more then recycling old blues rock which is cool but I rather listen to the old blues rock in the end, unless they keep their interpretations interesting or something. There doesn't seem to change much for the better. Best thing I dig Black keys related is Dan auerbachs solo album. It's not original at all neither but there are a couple of songs on it that just can't bore me.

 

I agree about the black keys. I liked them a lot at first, but it all starts to run together. I haven't listened to them much lately for the same reason I stopped listening to new "hard rock," I get bored. They have a good sound, but I like variety.

 

My new hard rock is still stoner rock focussed. It has influences of hard rock but also psychedelic rock and pretty often blues rock influences as well. What more to want in rock huh :biggrin: Only thing that puts me off in general are the vocals, a good stoner rock band with good vocals is bliss but rare, so I often wish they stayed instrumental (which happily is rather common in this kind of music).
