[IMG]If there’s one thing celebs love – collectively – it’s getting together to raise money for a good cause, and that’s exactly what they’re doing with Songs for Japan.
Songs for Japan, a 38-song album made possible by just as many super star artists (including the likes of Justin Bieber, Eminem, Cee Lo Green, John Mayer, Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Katy Perry), was released last Friday on iTunes for $9.99.
Proceeds from Songs for Japan will benefit the Japanese Red Cross Society, a nationwide program with more than 100 years of experience in providing Japan with medical and safety services, social welfare services, and domestic disaster responses. All acts featured on the album, which includes John Lennon’s “Imagine,” Bruce Springsteen’s “Human Touch,” Bob Dylan’s “Shelter From The Storm,” and Shakira’s “Whenever, Whenever” (weird?), waived their rights to proceeds and royalties from the worldwide sales.
Oddly enough, Gwen Stefani, who recently donated a cool $1 million to the Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund, isn’t featured on the album.
From the smallest #PrayforJapan hashtag to the largest monetary donation, it’s inspiring to watch as, mere moments after disaster strikes, we humans come together during crisis regardless of our political, religious, and racial differences. Such acts give those of us on the sidelines of such horrifying catastrophes a little bit of hope and, those of us in the midst of crisis, help.
How have the earthquake and tsunami in Japan affected you?
Will you, or have you, purchased Songs for Japan? Or, if possible, have you contributed in some other way?

This is going to continue for years, no people or robots can do the necessary work in the ruins.

Plutonium is very bad news and dont believe the plant operator when they say it is no risk for the health- Plutonium is one of the worsed substances that existe.
As I said this is going to continue for years and the winds will change one day for sure then the real catastrophy for the inhabitants begins...now there are still some days with offshore winds ahead, luckily.

i continue to investigate this story of nuke crisis ...

1srael's nuke facility apparently had a cover-up of a crisis in 2003 and 2004 ... heres a link to that story

Recently safety concerns about this 40-year-old reactor have been reported. In 2004, as a preventive measure, Israeli authorities distributed potassium iodide anti-radiation tablets to thousands of residents living nearby. [7]
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negev_Nuclear_Research_Center

the conection being that many reactors around the world seem to be coming undone, radiation does have an effect even on steel and concrete and suddenly i remember 40 yrs ago hearing about this ... how will these reactors stand the test of time? when will they deteriorate and break down ?

    http://www.inl.gov/technicalpublications/Documents/2906947.pdf

studies only looked at exposure for 50 years ...
but i relate from memory [watching news/docs/discussions] that there was concern by scientists then that concrete and steel would become brittle and deteriorate from certain levels of radiation

call it a repressed memory that just resurfaced.

ps; in mexico their only reactor [veracruz] was found back in the 1980s to have cracks ... these cracks were sealed with mortar ... mexico [from verbal sources] bought the radioactive milk from chernobyl and infected building supplies concrete steal etc which were used to build govt workers housing.

A researcher at Case Western Reserve University has detected tiny amounts of Iodine 131 from Japan in rainwater collected from the roof of a campus building...
Gerald Matisoff, professor of geology, said the presence of the isotope presents no danger to human health. He estimated the level of radiation is about one-tenth that of natural background radiation.
"In theory, the Iodine 131 could have come from any radioactive waste processing facility," Matisoff said. "But, we know it's from Japan. The isotope is being seen worldwide."
Matisoff and graduate student Mary Carson collect water on the roof of the A.W. Smith Building, on the campus quad, to monitor the particulates being carried in rain into Lake Erie.
Carson ran the analysis Friday and Matisoff verified the findings today.

in my ist post i gave the links with jetstream, weater patterns, wind speed ...

its not possible for the rad-cloud to have circulated worldwide yet, i put it at new york yesterday.

it cant have reached say europe yet or anywhere east of the atlanic

when an expert says somethiong that doesnt make sense

Yes, the situation is way worse than they are letting on, even still. Although the truth is leaking out, but not as fast as the radiation.

Even I pointed out on the first day they started pouring water on the reactors, that the water had to go somewhere and was likely to spread radiation contamination around the plant and into the sea, it's only NOW that they are admitting this is a real problem. Like they could've have figured that out before they started pumping all that water onto reactors that they couldn't even see... That was more than 10 days ago...

And I also noticed the press isn't saying that the highly radioactive seawater samples were taken from 20 miles out at sea, not "just offshore" from the reactors as they continue to say. They are lowballing the #s like crazy!

Somebody's famous last words...(from earlier in this thread, along with other nuke propaganda lies that were posted by him here)

He's gonna wait a long time, and so will the Nuke industry.

    Go GREENS!

Yes, we knew there were partial meltdowns when the fucking reactors exploded weeks ago. How far behind is Japanese news on this crisis anyway?

I've merged the two threads on this subject now.

Radiation is streaming into the atmosphere from the used uranium rods at reactor number four, after a 45ft-deep storage pool designed to keep them stable boiled dry in a fire.

And some of the radioactive material could reach Britain within a fortnight, according to experts.
However they say it will not be dangerous when it reaches our shores while low levels of radiation have already hit Southern California.

With a cold front crossing Japan today there will be some variable winds and pollution of areas north and south of the reactor. After the front the winds will blow offshore again for some time to come. They are lucky that it didnt happen at the east cost otherwise the country would be completely polluted already.
Then there are mountains east of the site so with winds from the east much of the radiation will precipitate along those mountains.
The real catastrophy for the country and TOKYO will be when the general streaming patterns change and when we get more winds blowing onto the land.
I also think that the catastrophy will be worse than Chernobyl. There at least they had an open reactor where they could throw their substances into to stop the nuclear fire.
