I was kind of hoping to write a few lines about how silly this thing was and watch some bible thumpers go hard against some militant athiests for entertainment. Then I got writing, and I couldn't really stop, because the whole concept really is kind of weird. I really don't give a fuck about whether its right or wrong, or who created the earth, or whether christians eat babies or muslims eat jews...I don't care about the morality, and I don't care about the discussion. I am just saying, this shit is kind of whack. I'm more so wondering why the hell we would even need to argue about it in the first place.

 

Well, it's hard to call them "pedophiles of thought" then. (even though I must admit that I truly do like the expression)

It's very likely that their kids will find religion or something similar on their own, and if they don't they will try to fill the void with something else that's probably even more destructive on a personal level.

I do not think that childhood indoctrination is that much of a factor unless it's done at a very extensive level. People who are intelligent enough still end up rejecting religion. There sure aren't many of 'em though.

No. I find arguing against Christians excruciating. Athiests even more so. Even though I agree more with the latter.

I have not argued about or made an observation on religion for two or three years. Not even on HF as far as I recall. Its way too annoying.

Its easy to poke fun though. Thats why I made this thread.

 

Well, I'm saying that it's an easy topic to start arguing about, not necessarily an easy topic to argue. Hell, it's usually an impossible topic to argue, which is why it's pointless to do so.

There are these militant Christian preachers that come to my uni every couple of months and all the freshmen and pseudo-intellectual fucks go out there and argue with them about inconsequential stuff. The preachers are only really there so that they could piss someone off enough to get punched so that they could sue the university for millions, while the students that argue are the weak minded ones who are actually offended by some random dude telling them that they're going to hell because they have long hair, or are gay or something.

Religion is easy to make fun of, that I can easily agree with. This is why I burn Bibles.

I, for one, like religion. People seem to think when you have a religion you can't believe in anything else, you just blindly follow. It's cool to hate now.

I notice a lot of religious people seem happier and more content with their lives than most. When I am looking at recipe blogs looking for frugal tip and such, the blogs seem to be all by religious women. It makes me wish I could lay all my problems on an invisible man, too. I just can't do it.
I've never really believed.
