You can't just say words you know. Words mean things.

That's even worse. That was a terrible documentary.

It made two assertions and tried to tie them together, and failed miserably. It was factually correct on about half it's assertions. It was sort of a moronic pop version mix of a Joseph Campbell lecture and a less eloquent Noam Chomsky political diatribe.

Anyone who enjoyed that movie is a legendary fucking moron.

Oh, non taken but I would think some of the material is solid, especially the 9/11 stuff (about there being charges and that). That part might have been covered more in the sequel, I watched the two back to back so I don't remember the linearity.

Plus I thought the Christianity stuff was damn interesting.

    Because it's made for idiots.

    Spence explained it quite well.

I just don't really see the appeal myself.

So don't believe it. Who cares?

As little patience as I have for a debate about this online...

Who cares is a kind of dumb position.

"The eternal, the point of life? *yawn*"

Do either of you mind going into deeper detail about why exactly the movie was bad and which parts, as you claim, were untrue and how do you know they were?

I started watching it and it looked like divisive, unsubstantiated crap, so I turned it off. I mostly hate anything that hippies like. For that reason I didn't listen to the doors for years and then I put on a record last night and realized how awesome they are. Maybe I should give this movie a chance as well...or maybe not.

Also...I am disappointed that no militant atheists or Christians have taken up their banner and started an epic debate yet. Somebody please start arguing.

OK, here is a good one....The Nazi party were evolutionists, therefore evolution is the doctrine of death. Now begin....

Which part are you most interested in dissecting?

    The part about Jesus?

    The part about 9/11?

    Or the part about Bankers?

The links between the three it tried to present weren't tenuous. They didn't exist. Ifeel only a discussion of the first part would be appropriate to discuss in this thread.

So on the first part... much of what you'll read online vis a vis Jesus and Horus are just lies. Both of people trying to dispute and similarities and and those trying to insist upon them.

Heres a legitimate source on who Horus was and the mythology surrounding him.

    http://www.touregypt.net/featurestories/horus.htm

    And heres about Osiris resurrection.

    http://www.sacred-texts.com/egy/ebod/ebod04.htm

Keep in mind, I agree with the assertion of the first part of Zeitgeist. I don't think Jesus was a flesh and blood person. I think the movie went into the time frame of the gospels and Jesus' life which was very compelling. I've heard it all before...

And there are many similarities between Jesus other mythological gods. Resurrection myths are pervasive through all human history. But many of the assertions the movie makes about comparisons are false. The astrology stuff made me want to hang myself. "Sun of god."

From a filmmakers perspective, the editing was terrible, it was incongruent, and poorly narrated. It was a failure as a film aside from the inaccuracies in it. I like people being forced to consider their religion. I just wish they'd do so through better means than a terrible documentary.

I'd head out and get some books on Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell.

I was looking up some stuff for a response. It was a chrisitan webpage arguing that jesus in fact existed.

They pointed out gnostic texts as secular evidence of jesus existence. Thats interesting on a couple levels. Among which the gnostics generally didn't accept the verisimilitude of Jesus. He was an allegory in many gnostic schools.

    Religions just kooky.
